Good to hear all your news, and very pleased to know that you've been able to get out and about Anya - the shoes sound lovely!

The wind has been fearsome here since this afternoon, but I think it's abating a bit...hope so because I hate it.

On the house front, had heard nothing so phoned the Estate Agent today and was told all was going ahead and should get the letter of confirmation tomorrow. Wouldn't mind but last time they couldn't wait to put the 'sale agreed' sign on my board and on the website, not so quick off the mark now...but it's good news anyway and we all need some!

Maggie, I'm sure if either of my GDs wore a pedometer for a day it would clock up about 30,000 steps - they seem to be on the go all the time!

jg hope you'll be feeling better soon, there do seem to be a lot of lurgies about at the moment.

No, but I hope to be soon, Anya We've been running round looking after DGS2 today and I managed my steps taking him to Toddler Group and to the local shop between blustery showers (we very nearly got caught in a deluge at one point, but we got to his front door just in time). I managed a brief yogalates session too, so am a happy bunny. I was tempted to plant the pedometer on the wee tornado today, Ana and see how he did - I think it would have been an astronomical total!

I love my quizzes, Anya, and I love your team name, though I would hesitate to call it out after a couple of s!

I'm polishing my tarnished halo. Over target today, with a walk to town and back. I undid some of the good work by succumbing to a big slice of coffee and walnut cake when meeting my friend for a and a natter, but hey, I'm also having a celebratory

Did anyone else see the Doctor in the House programme on BBC tonight? Good things said about the benefits of walking and intermittent fasting. Though I think I must have missed the advice to drink more and eat more

I saw it Maggie - interesting that diet for type 2 diabetes was low carb but it's about time the UK Diabetic Society kept up with latest research.

Not sure if someone with diabetes ought to fast for so long though, I'd be concerned about a hypo.

If you missed that bit about and then so did I but now I come to think of it I saw them chuck out the squashes and the fuzzy pop, but didn't see any being dumped.....?????

Had quite a good day. Managed steps, ate healthily (apart from a couple of chocolates pupil brought because we've restarted piano lessons) and stilling feeling chilled, yet energised, (odd combination I know but...) from Reiki session.

Is there only me and thee left Maggie I do hope JG hasn't succumbed to her virus or other issues. And Ana is ok too???

Just a quick check-in before I collapse!! Still feeling rough but a long standing promise to have Diva 2 overnight couldn't be changed. I've just crept out of her bed at past 12.30a.m. and am ready for some shut-eye

Have got the Sale Agreed sign up and the confirmation letter has arrived re the house so it's now just a waiting game again, I expect. At least there's the run-up to Christmas to take my mind off it!

That's good news Ana - the waiting bit can be very stressful can't it, but as you say, Christmas is getting very close so you'll have a lot of other things to worry think about. Pleased it's all moving forward for you.

What kind of new house are you looking for?

I must say this thread is very educational - I've been looking up Reiki and looking up Big Red Combine Harvester, and feel much better informed now. Unfortunately the jolly lyrics of BRCH are firmly stuck in my brain, so I may not sleep well tonight

My halo's slipped today - we had a lovely day out with the DGS and their respective parents, but I only clocked up 3000 steps, going at a toddler's pace And the yogalates dvd hasn't seen the light of day either, sadly. I'm trying to think of a way of meeting my target tomorrow, when my agenda is sorting out kitchen cupboards and baking my Christmas cake, then out for a meal with the in-laws. I suppose I could do a lot of jogging on the spot or something.

Seeing as the Christmas word is in open circulation now, I can at least brag that I have wrapped my first presents and written my first cards this evening, so that I can get rid of them pass them on to the in-laws tomorrow. Three down, rather a lot still to go....

Sorry I have been a bit scarce recently but this flippin' virus has really knocked me for six! I'm quite cross about it because I was doing really well with stepping/jogging - diet has been good despite the dreaded IBS and I felt like I was getting somewhere - I feel like I've lost a week somewhere! I'll be back....

Ana - that's brilliant news on the house - as you say the run-up to Christmas should keep you busy and hopefully distracted. These house moves can happen really quickly if everybody just does their job properly In the meantime perhaps you could do a bit of virtual reiki on us all -you did say you wanted to brush up your skills ...

Maggie sorry about the BRCH - it's a right bugger pain once it's in your head - hope you managed to get some sleep. As far as the c-word is concerned - I bought my cards a few weeks ago and have a good proportion of the presents.... I may well start wrapping soon.. The boxes containing the decorations have been brought up from the storeroom - we have a 'do' early in December and it is christmas themed.... This of course means that because I usually get fed up with everything christmas-y by boxing day and remove them all - there is a danger that they will not even be up on christmas day

Oh bigger bum!

Just wrote a long post to everyone and it disappeared into hyperspace and I really can't start again. Sorry folks but I wish you well and

A bigger bum is exactly what I will have soon, Anya if I don't buck up. Around 3000 steps today, from a quick jog to the library in between the cake making, cupboard sorting and a visit from DD1. Oh and a very pleasant and highly calorific evening out, full of good food and drink. The halo is pretty much round my neck now - good job it's a loose fit

Well I hope you've all had a good weekend. I've finished the week on a virtuous high, getting my steps target during a brisk, chilly walk along t'canal this morning with DH, and creaking working my way through one hour and 10 minutes worth of yogalates. I've not done much else today apart from read the papers, browse the internet and eat though. And I will probably continue doing just that till bedtime now that Downton's gone.

Unless we finally start watching one of the TV series we keep recording then deleting a few months later.

Not done much myelf today either, Maggie, although I did get the trampoline out and had a session or two on it.

I was so relieved it wasn't as cold as it had been yesterday (took me ages to thaw out after just visiting Tesco) that I just got on with household things and didn't really bother about step-counting.

New leaf tomorrow (didn't I say that last week? )

Well done Maggie on the steps and on all that yogalates. I really must get myself into gear re exercise other than walking, especially now the knee is 80% better. Our guests have left, and now it's time to get serious between now and Christmas.

I've just forced myself to finish off the brick block of chocolate and bars of fudge they bought - yes, I know but they're all gone now at least.

Pleased you're on the mend JG. Sorry about the 'nkt' but fat fingers and a surfeit of lampreys will do that. And of course nkt bothering to read what I've written first.

Oh, I didn't know that about trampolines. I'll be dragging mine up out of the cellar now. Following a massive mug of coffee with a cold canal walk meant that I was very glad to get home today.... DH just disappeared behind a tree, but I didn't feel that was an option for me and my modesty

Yes Maggie trampolining, for us more mature ladies, certainly teaches us to control the pelvic floor and sphincter muscles

Try it on a full bladder and you'll see what I mean!

A power cut started the day and so I thought I would begin Christmas wrapping - when the power came back on I was quite cross It's surprising how much stuff you can get done without the need to log on to gransnet the internet

Anyway, I've found the Fitbit - now I just have to find the motivation and the energy - I'm going insane here - I need to run ...
