Am I alone...

I've loved reading your contributions. I thought I was the only one who had days (too many) when I just don't know what to do with myself, despite having a house that needs cleaning, emails
that need answering, dresses that need making and a garden full of weeds etc. etc. I wonder where my energy went. In the old days I held down a freelance job, looked after half an acre of garden and my mother-in-law, baked bread and attempted Cordon Bleu, painted the house and made our clothes, all without the help of my late husband who was in the Navy. And, for my sins, even made my own Tofu!
Now I can hardly stir myself to pick up my knitting. I'm ashamed.

Tedium would be nice, I still have boxes to empty and sort from my move last November. Today I got up, prepped lunch, tidied the flat, drove 30 odd miles for a complex blood test, collected friend who doesn't drive, cooked us a 2 course lunch, talk non stop, then hosted a book group . Then I started the washing up, made 4 phone calls, sent 2 email s and made a cup of tea before reading Gransnet threads. I'll sort the paperwork tomorrow, DS says what do you do all day, mum? DOH!

*start writing memories from childhood ( onwards) for future generations to read
*do a crossword
*get a tablet and play Scrabble against the computer - or someone else on the internet
*watch all the daytime quiz shows and then apply to be on one of them!
* start a thread with some really controversial statement which will keep you busy defending yourself for days
*Start doing online surveys for points/cash ( minuscule amounts admittedly). Google 'online surveys' and some should come up e.g. YouGov/ mysurvey.com
*Start selling unwanted possessions online

I can't remember if it was on Ancestry, but someone asked you to take a photo from the same place as one of the Frith ones, and email it.
There were fewer cars on the picture I took than on the original Frith one, but more street signs.

Had a busy bank holiday because DS is home to celebrate his birthday, but know what you mean about long days. I find some websites can occupy me for hours- besides the time I spend on GN!

I was very active yesterday while you lot were lying in. I went on Geology trip fairly near home.
We looked at some big rocks and some small stones and even some nice round pebbles that were transported into North Cheshire and up towards the Wirral in a big river that started off in France.

They can tell where they came from by analysing radioactive isotopes in the stones. (I bet you didn't know that.)
We also saw some nice big wind blown desert sand dunes.

Now I really enjoyed my Bank Holiday. (#geek emoticon needed.)

Apple crumble follows very nicely on pork with apple. Lovely and Autumny.

Day 1 of DGSs visit started at 5.43 precisely when they opened up their boxes of Lego which were intended to keep them occupied while their aged GPs got their act together . Porridge made and everyone bathed and brushed and into town for school shoes . We were the first there and there were shoes left. We took a large bag of stuff to oxfam (first there) and then walked up to the cathedral to see the Lego cathedral. It was magnificent and if anyone is going to the last few days of the Magna Carta pop in to see the Lego cathedral. 170000 pieces so far. Then juice and bickies in the undercroft and home for exploring the garden. After lunch the DGC s were taken for a walk with grandpa while I did food prep for tonight. Then it poured so we watched Ponyo which they loved . Now I'm resting as DH had a nap while I watched Ponyo with them. Dd is working from here so we have to keep quiet. We're having bog standard apple crumble tonight though I may caramelise the apples first as it will save doing them and letting the apples go brown. I've been stupid as we are having pork in cider with apples and mushrooms but I don't think anyone will care.

Different day,different weather, different mood. I have a sort of GD (my GD's half sister) for the day, she is just 11 and will keep me on my toes.
Yesterday was so hard with my DH who is now hard work and saps my energy with his constant talking about nothing,but that's life as they say.

Nice weather here and not a bank holiday in Scotland. Had early doc appointment (8.30) then picked up a few groceries. Lunch, finished making ears for Tiny Clanger then collected dgd from school. Had cuppa with dd when she came in and then back home for lazy evening. Quite a nice day actually. Tesco delivering monthly shop this morning then meeting friend for lunch.

Yes Marmight we had a lovely sunny day here too . It was a BH today here and the schools, which started back on Wednesday, were off!!

Stripped our bed, washed bedding and onto line to dry in the SUN! Cleaned kitchen and had a , dead headed roses and tackled a massively overgrown flower bed. Gave up and had a , ironed and had a , played a bit of Candy Crush and listened to ClassicFM, while having a . Looked after DGSs for a few hours and made them some proper food. They had spent the day with their father and as usual got junk food to eat for lunch.

This evening indulged in some colouring in (my latest hobby) with new glitter gel pens, while drinking a So satisfyingly soothing . Now allowing myself some GN time.

And no, I didn't go for a healthy walk. Bad me. DH did though.

I find dark wet days much longer, Annsixty as I can never get motivated to do anything.

Lovely sunny day here. I don't think it was a BH - well, it seemed just like an average Monday and the schools were open.... It was my first day as a new girl at a local charity shop. I only went for the morning but before I knew it, it was gone 3 and none of us had managed to stop for lunch. Really enjoyed it and raring to go next time when I will learn how to work the till. Today I learnt how to fire the little plastic tags which hold the price labels in place - woop woop!! . Home, sheets off the line, ironed and back on the bed and now flopped out in front of the telly. [yawn]

We looked after DGS3 for an hour, then had coffee with DS and DDIL and cuddles with DGS1 when they scooped him up. I have made bread and soup, done an online shop and skimmed through a lot of previously unread newspapers and magazines prior to recycling. Helped DH put up a big mirror securely that fell down from above the mantelpiece last month (we don't like to rush things). It only took him 3 hours, and we have some lovely holes at each side of the mirror now, but at least it won't be knocking a DGS out any time soon. After such a productive day , time for some mind games with University Challenge and Only Connect.

It would be lovely if we could have a sunny September and an Indian Summer

I hate the thought that summer is over, Autumn can be lovely, but it's a heck of a long time until next Spring.

I loved Riverwalk's idea of fun - cocktails, wine and steak! She is my type of person indulgent.

I nipped out to Waitrose mainly to show off my smart new rainhat that is purple with tiny white dots. I bought it at a craft fair yesterday and the lovely young salesperson suggested I wore it at a rakish angle to look at my best. I think I either looked the business or some silly old bird with a Norman Wisdom slanted hat.

No heating but put my fluffy bed socks on halfway through the afternoon. In between meals I have done - surfed G'net and FB; wrote a long email to American friend; had a long chat with sister in NZ; read quite a lot of chapters of a Kathy Reichs book; put the recycling bin out; watched the Edinburgh Tattoo on TV. What do all these (in)activities have in common? I've been firmly attached to my chair!

Annsixty - you are so not alone! This morning I was going to a Farmers' Market but it poured with rain here and it was quite a walk from the bus stop. I booked a ticket for Gemma Bovary for tomorrow afternoon and wrote a short poem for a competition. Did a tiny bit of a needlework picture DD gave me too many Christmases ago. Kept (so far) to SW food optimising plan and listened to the radio a lot while I pottered.
In fact quite a good day but sometimes I can spend 2 or 3 days intending to walk to the shops, not quite getting it together to leave the house, and by Wednesday feel I've done nothing. Most of us have ups and downs and the weather doesn't help, or the news.

Mine's been on for weeks!

Well, apart from the clothes I started off wearing, I have added a camisole, pair of socks, scarf and fluffy cardi!
I am NOT putting the heating on yet! #it'sstillsummer!
