I have a particular favourite colour of kitten, but wonder how the rest of you feel.
I think little tabby kittens are the cutest, although black ones with white socks run them a close second.

On your marks, get set. . .

I like black kittens best because they are the Undercats of the cat world - they are the kittens least wanted and most likely to be killed off or dumped. They are reputed to be unlucky, which is why, it is thought, people don't want them. Who'd have thought that people could still be so superstitious in this day and age! It makes me want one just so that people will think I am a witch and my cat is my familiar.

I have had tabbies, white, ginger, black and black and white, but am not owned by one at present. All beautiful and not a pink eye to be seen (I don't like it either!). However if a little black kitten came calling I would give it a home.

It's a well known fact that really, I love dogs. However, I've shared my life with a tabby I loved and if I could, I'd love to own one of those huge American Coon cats. Glorious glorious creatures and the kittens are beyond gorgeous. The adult coon cats are rather like dogs, though they, like all cats, must be in charge.

Well although kittens are undeniably adorable, I don't like cats because I want must be in charge!

Oh I love ginger cats. There's one in the next village who sits by the side of the road watching the world go by. His owners moved away but the new residents agreed to look after him because it seemed unfair to make him leave 'his patch'. His name is Ginger by the way. I've always found ginger cats to be more vocal than other colours.

My favourites are silver tabbies but my last pair were ginger. I went to a local rescue and they had twelve ginger kittens, ferals who had been trapped and separated from their mums at 4 weeks old to help socialise them. They were still pretty wild.
My boys played and slept together for 2 1/2 happy years then one was run over. His brother George is still searching and grieving 8 months later.

shock a bit of contention at last! grin

It seems a little pointless to prefer one colour rather than another as cats choose you not the other way round. Consequently I have had a ginger tom, a black and white female, a tabby and now another black and white female - Purdy Puss who walked in as a small feral kitten almost a year ago. I think character is much more important and certainly the last 3 (who chose me) have been nicer cats than the ginger tom who was chosen from a litter by DD when she was 5.

Here's Baz : faithful companion and box lover. Can't seem to turn the image round - sorry

Love that kitten. We had three Persians - the three Ts- but they were a devil to keep in good nick especially Toby - he was vicious - even the vet refused to dezl with him at one time.blush

We had a British Shorthair silver tabby and she was the worst cat I ever had for killing things. I read up on them afterwards and it did say the silver tabbies were renowned for that. Not sure why [maybe their colour makes it easier for them to catch things?]. Apart from that she had the sweetest nature. Had a long haired black cat with a white bib and paws and he was called Hudson, after the butler.

Cats upset me with their bird killing shenanigans but I can't help finding them appealing even so. Especially kittens. I guess I love all sorts of kittens, even maggies moggies

My SIL has just acquired two Havana Brown kittens. Never seen or heard of them before but they're bred from Siamese and are completely chocolate brown. Very unusual. I love all colours of kittens but prefer cats of character regardless of shade.

glammanana Thu 27-Aug-15 18:05:22

I love the British Blue shorthaired cat my neighbour has called Frederick he is so handsome and has a lovely blue hint to his coat,I find it amusing when he is being called in at a night time anyone listening would think she is calling in her hubby from a night out on the tiles.I also have a fondness for ginger toms who all seem to have oversized heads for some strange reason they carry themselves as though they own the territory they prowl about in.

ninathenana Thu 27-Aug-15 18:02:21

Ana gorgeous kitten. Just what I'd like but I don't want to pay pedigree prices.

ninathenana Thu 27-Aug-15 17:57:55

I would love a grey cat/kitten silver tabby, all grey or grey and white.
I half jokingly said to DH that when our 13 yr old goes I'm not getting another until I find a grey.

Ana Thu 27-Aug-15 17:55:16

Ooh, I like this one! Siberian kitten.

rosesarered Thu 27-Aug-15 17:47:22

Our apricot cat was called Fred, he used to rugby tackle our feet during the night if we went to the bathroom.

annsixty Thu 27-Aug-15 17:47:21

My DD has 6mth old tabbys, they are adorable. Our last cat was half Siamese and half unknown , she was mink coloured and the most loving cat possible. I do like a cat with " markings " though.

whitewave Thu 27-Aug-15 17:44:57

A shorthaired tabby called Friday and a Black and white called Topper. That is the total of our cats.
Also Fred moved in from next door he was ginger.

rosesarered Thu 27-Aug-15 17:44:22

I like black kittens with white bibs and socks.I know, an unusual choice and I just love them! If I had one I would call it Jeeves.

Ana Thu 27-Aug-15 17:43:26

Well, at least you weren't 'offended' roses! grin

rosesarered Thu 27-Aug-15 17:41:34

Haha!

rosesarered Thu 27-Aug-15 17:41:15

Ana and Jane, I am rather upset by your statementssad

annodomini Thu 27-Aug-15 17:40:57

I've had two marmalade cats, both as thick as two short planks but very lovable. I've met gorgeous Birman cats which were very friendly and tried to adopt me!

whitewave Thu 27-Aug-15 17:40:23

We used to have a white kitten my daughter na ed him snowy toes. We moved from Devon to Sussex and for some reason he took exception even though he was uttef!y spoilt and moved in with my neighbour
