You never told me it was this good being a grandma!

Ok, my "name" is still up for discussion, but my point still stands. My parents have quietly and smugly adoring my kids (disclaimer-mainly they have been fab and my kids adore them).
But no one ever warned me what it would be like to have a grandchild.
Probably because I'm in my 30's wink
..but the LOVE...the same as for my tribe...but none of the responsibilities!
I still get the odd person in my town whom I haven't waxed lyrical about my gd too shouting.."alright grandma?"..like its an insult. It really isn't. My gd is amazing!
So, (wrong forum I know), but AIBU to be really vocal about how amazing being a grandparent is?

Hello and welcome itsazoohere.
I too was surprised by not just the love I feel for my Grandchildren, but the sense of connectedness too. I was also very happy to 'move up' a generation when my first grandchild was born.
Feel free to be as vocal as you like on here. smile

Grand children are the best thing ever to happen to you. Shout it from the rooftops! I would die in a heartbeat for mine. Mine are 6 now and each age has been wonderful and it just gets better and better . Welcome to the Granny club and enjoy every minute.

That's lovely Falconbird and I know the feeling! I only have one dgd but I watched her come into the world and have been in love with her ever since smile

I have a magnet on my fridge which has been there for many years stating If I'd known how much pleasure grandchildren bring I would have had them first a lovely lady bought it for me 24 yrs ago when my dearest first DGS was born.

A friend said to me that the love for a grand child was the purest form of love. The child of my child is so special. DGS 1 said on the phone that he had had a good summer holiday but it would have been "maximum" if we had been there. Still glowing.
