Or is it me being inept? Do they need more wine and flowers ? Or is it the dastardly hackers?

Indinana Mon 24-Aug-15 20:22:32

Well I was just going to ask the same question about Gransnet. I spent several minutes trying, and failing, to log on just now. I kept getting an error message hmm

Liz46 Mon 24-Aug-15 20:26:52

I think the hackers are at it again. I can't get on mumsnet either.

soontobe Mon 24-Aug-15 20:27:58

Gransnet has been fine for me all evening.

I have just tried mumsnet because of what you have written, and I get a message come up which says that they are dealing with a "distributed denial of service attack".
Which I assume to mean, that yes, they are being hacked.
[Either I suppose that they have put the message there, or the hacker has]. Either way, it doesnt look good.

Indinana Mon 24-Aug-15 20:37:33

I'm getting the same with mumsnet, soon. But I'm periodically getting a "this page is not available" message when I refresh on Gransnet. Then a second refresh moments later brings it back. This has happened several times this evening sad

soontobe Mon 24-Aug-15 20:42:16

I'm logging out again! grin

Ana Mon 24-Aug-15 20:43:32

Yes, you can't be too careful, soontobe...hmm

Also had problem logging in. 'this page is not available' Logged in different method

Denial of service attack.. ie someone is sending requests for lots and lots of data so that the servers can not cope.

I have not had any problem loading Gransnet.

BlackeyedSusan Mon 24-Aug-15 22:45:24

They did have the decency to leave us some [gin] though, to help with the withdrawal symptoms! blush techie will need the gin when it is all over

I prefer brew though. Less hunting for the virtual paracetamol in the morning. (and less feeling like a dragon )

ps, does that roastchicken feed a family for a week over here? I have smily envy! They have been updated since mumsnet was last down I last visited.

MammaTJ Mon 24-Aug-15 22:53:24

The roastchicken must feed the whole of Gransnet!

BlackeyedSusan Mon 24-Aug-15 23:16:14

I also have a sticky key board, apparently.

I am back. Fed up with being away, and mumsnet seems to be the real target.

Welcome EhUp.

I dont know anything about the chicken. I dont think I was around when it got "invented" on here.

By the way.
If any new posters from mumsnet want to start threads on here, start away I say. About anything.

We can do with all the new threads we can get in my opinion.

soontobe Tue 25-Aug-15 08:29:32

Well, start them on the correct topic if you can please.
The search function on this site is useless, so it helps a lot if we want to try and find a thread again. Thanks awfully.

glammanana Tue 25-Aug-15 08:29:54

Still getting MN unavailable looks like I will have to think of a new password again I have a never ending list of out of date passwords I am going to run out soon confused

Indinana Tue 25-Aug-15 08:31:23

The roastchicken was the result of a request for an emoticon that said, "sorry folks, gotta go and cook the dinner, see you all later". I don't think I've ever actually seen anyone use it until now grin

ninathenana Tue 25-Aug-15 08:36:00

I've never been a member of the other side. I've only ever followed a link to there posted by a GNer.
Welcome any refugees smile

xkcdfangirl Tue 25-Aug-15 08:37:00

hello. is this the place for non-grandparent mumsnet refugees to huddle together for warmth?

thatbags Tue 25-Aug-15 08:38:24

Welcome all! flowers cupcake brew wine [woteva]

Stansgran Tue 25-Aug-15 08:40:38

Very cosy here. All slippers and knitting. Fair bit of griumpyness and on some threads they get stroppy .

EhUp Tue 25-Aug-15 08:45:27

What a lovely welcome, and a China cup too brew how nice.

I had a look at the thread discussing Corbyn. It seems things get as heated here as they do on mn. smile

Indinana Tue 25-Aug-15 08:47:34

Please come in! Shut the door behind you, there's a love, keep the rain out. Teapot's over there, help yourself. We're a friendly bunch. Most of the time. Until someone mentions politics [runsforcoveremoticon] grin
