Exploding pan lid!

I'm not much of a Facebook user, but have got surprising results when posting questions on a company page, rather than contacting them via their website

An innocently phrased question such as "I have x pan from this company and have been pleased with it until the lid suddenly exploded, has anyone else had this happen?"

Another good thing to say is that you have always liked x company and their products, and have indeed recommended them to others, but this occurrence has caused you to lose faith in them.

A glass pan lid should certainly last more than 2 years. Even when something is out of guarantee it is not unreasonable to expect it to last more than a couple of years. Complain loud and long!!!

That's a real shock isn't it newnana? I dropped the lid of my steamer a couple of weeks ago and it shattered. I think they are made of glass that doesn't splinter now so are not so dangerous but it's still scary and 2 years isn't very long at all in the life of a pan!

What make was it? I'm in the market for some new pans and wouldn't want to buy the same make!

I really don't think that 2 years is long enough for wear and tear to be this extreme. I am actually quite appalled that glassware designed for use on the hob can deteriorate, this quickly, to the point where it is unable to withstand heat. Can you imagine if children or pets had been within range? Or if any of the exploding glass had embedded in your eyes?
I would definitely contact Trading Standards. Don't be fobbed off.

1 year. So out of guarantee period but it was still a shock that it could explode!

How long was the guarantee for?
