Why did you choose your name?

I chose Rosie because it sounds warm and friendly,
[wish it was my real name] and bee as it's the initial of my first name which is very dull. But I do like being called Bee by my DH .

Mine is the same handle I've used on other sites. I suggested "Mary" at first and was asked if I wanted to be something like "Mary3027". I didn't.

I'm rather unusual in that I actually chose my real name. There are some quite reasonable ways to choose, but I just knew I was Mary.

I was a Reception teacher, mine is how my children pronounced my real name

I chose name after name to be told that it was already taken so I said to myself, 'I don't know, the mind boggles' and there you have it.

Dead in Spanish is muerto, so a dead thing would be una cosa muerta . I'm fairly sure you were right first time cosafina

I always thought mine was Spanish for A Fine Thing, but I've just looked it up and it's more likely to mean A Dead Thing. Yikes!!!

I'd just come home from a yoga class when I registered back in the dark ages. I keep away from threads when they get contentious, preferring the calm, kind, informative or funny threads. There is a yogagirl too, hope we don't get confused.

Simple come from Merseyside and prefer cats to people! Children seem to gravitate to me even though I don't encourage them. Perhaps they like cats as well or may be regard me as a challenge. It could be because I do take time to show them things and it is nice when they appreciate that.

I called myself Ceredigionbottom2 as an homage (darlink!) to my DP. When I first met him he let slip that he had once been said to have the shapeliest bottom in Ceredigion (a region in west Wales). I can't pretend that my derriere is in the same class, but I live in hope

Technophobe that I am, I couldn't work out how to give myself a really cool name. And if I had been able to, I would have forgotten it by now!

I started out on Mumsnet as Granny to one, became Granny to two and by the time I joined Gransnet was Granny to three little ones. Hence Granny 23. {I've been telt ther'll be nae mair}

I am a Cockney by birth, my name isn't Joanna, and I no longer have a piano.

Mine is because each year I make sloe gin, also hedgerow (rose hips, crab apples, brambles, elderberries) whisky and last year rhubarb vodka, which was a great success. I don't drink it myself, but give it away as Christmas presents and 'sell' (free bottle of booze, make a donation please) at a fair for a local charity.

I've just started something I haven't tried before, but as I had the ingredients to hand it seemed like a good idea - blueberry vodka.

When I joined Gransnet I was living in England and absentdaughter and her, then, four children, were living in New Zealand – she has had two more babies since then. My eldest grandchild referred to me as Grana when he was a little boy and so I used absentgrana as my name here, shortening it later to absent. I moved to New Zealand just over two years ago so I am no longer absent from my family, but I am absent from my Gransnet friends, so absent I have remained.

I think I`ve explained my username before. When I left school, my frst ever job was as a GPO telephonist, at Rochdale telephone exchange. Number please was how we answered every signal that lit up, although if we were feeling mischievious, we`d say "Rubber knees" instead, very quickly, nobody ever seemed to notice!

I picked a name that would not identify me My DGC do not call me that. The numbers are significant to me but I will not tell you why,

MAR is part of one of my names: MA as in Mother: MIGHT - well I might or I might not and you either love me or hate me as in Marmite. Got it? No, neither have I. Totally
I used to be GALLY which is what my gc's call me. G for Granny and ALLY which is part of my name.......

I'd just become 64 when I joined gransnet. I couldn't quite believe it as the Beatles about hoping to still be loved and needed at 64 seemed beyond old and impossible when i first enjoyed the song in my teens. Now of course, 64 seems quite young

In my very early youth I dated a very shady gangster type guy and certain friends were horrified and gave me the nickname to bring me back to earth. The fascination did not last long. 40 odd years on they are still friends but my nickname has stuck. I still get birthday etc cards addressed to this nickname. Odd to explain to DH and worse to adult DC who are not daft.

Actually I joined with a different username and was keen to take part in a thread about care homes as I was having a lot of problems with Mum's care home at the time. I then realised my username was too close to my real name so asked HQ if I could change it. I had a in my hand at the time.....inspiration.

Even as a teenager and after a visit to London I've always felt a connection and been interested in your country. I know envious is a negative word but at the time I thought it went well with enviousamerican which I was before a username name change.

Because I'm worth it!
