"There aren't any illegible bachelors around these days" hmm (overhead in a coffee bar several years ago)

"That's an elephant" (irrelevant)

My neighbour kept talking to me about his 'prostrate' problems - and a rally posh lady à la Mrs Bouquet kept telling me about taking her grand-daughter to the 'ménage' for horse-riding. At least your Hungarian man had a good excuse ;)

I will sometimes say to people 'sympathise your watches' Yes I know it is wrong, but I heard it once, and at amused me. I love to see peoples faces, they are not sure whether to correct me - because they know I quite like words - or just take it as it is. I would not say it amongst people I do not know, don't want to appear ignorant.

My sister's Belgian friend asked her if she 'unplugged her eyebrows'.

No Ana that was her attempt at "Dame Edna Everage" grin

The man from Ben's Gutters (Spanish, I think) told me he had sealed up my backside. He had mended a leaking gutter joint at the rear of the house. I politely thanked him then went inside for a giggle!

My DD tripped and fell into a gorse bush when little and asked for some anti-hypnotist cream grin

My aunty had an alligator in her washing machine. It caused trouble regularly.

Don't you mean Dick, phoenix?

I have written before about my linguistically challenged friend, with her social leopard, house with panasonic views, her belief in mahogany, and glasses that make her look like Dave Haemorrhage .............

Indinana Wed 19-Aug-15 11:19:52

That is one of my stumbling blocks too, Bellanonna. I saw 'power for the course' somewhere earlier. Obviously not someone who plays/follows golf grin
My MiL used to refer to the 'next phrase' of a building development.

Bellanonna Wed 19-Aug-15 10:56:03

I suppose having a temperature comes into that category nonnie.
I confess I have to engage my brain before saying prostate or prostrate

Nonnie Wed 19-Aug-15 10:49:40

Reminds me of all those people who say they have 'blood pressure' as if they were unique!

rosesarered Wed 19-Aug-15 10:27:37

The Mongol hordes rampaging throughout your house?grin

Grannyknot Wed 19-Aug-15 10:25:33

I had to stifle a smile today when the young Hungarian man who is painting our house asked me whether we were having it "mongolia" throughout smile

My dear neighbour is having trouble with his "sophosagus" grin
