Definitely Autumnal in the garden this morning and I shall need a sweater on the golf course today..

ninathenana Wed 19-Aug-15 09:16:30

Noooo sad
Sun is out here but its only about 15c

Charleygirl Wed 19-Aug-15 09:18:48

I agree and some evenings it is quite chilly.

rosesarered Wed 19-Aug-15 09:19:39

Getting darker earlier in the evenings too!

Luckygirl Wed 19-Aug-15 09:20:14

Don't even think about it.........I love autumn but not what follows. It is definitely high summer here.

rosesarered Wed 19-Aug-15 09:20:32

However, it has to be said, I love Autumn.smile

Ana Wed 19-Aug-15 09:57:08

I did notice yesterday that even after a day of clear and sunny skies, it was virtually dark by 9.30 p.m.! I'm sure it's getting darker earlier than previous years.

granjura Wed 19-Aug-15 09:59:06

yep- autumn is my favourite season too. The colchicum are in flower in our field, morning mist being burnt out by the son, and its got decidedly cooler- was actually quite cold during the night. What I love, it how clear the air is, no haze- great for views and photos- everything is crisp and sharp. The son has finely come out again after a few much needed rainy days- and will be out foraging for 'shrooms over next few weeks- reserves definitely need replesnishing. Wonderful-

There is only one month and a half in the year I don't just love, November ato mid-December. Will probably find a last minute cheapo flight to Sicily late November to get away.

rosesarered Wed 19-Aug-15 10:14:27

The months that I don't like are Jan and Feb.

Ana Wed 19-Aug-15 10:20:26

Same here, roses.

Anya Wed 19-Aug-15 10:34:30

Ditto

Blackberrying a couple of days ago and the hedges are so colourful with all the fruits of the season , it was really quite beautiful.

Gagagran Wed 19-Aug-15 10:52:47

At least the light is coming back once the year turns and the bulbs are pushing through in the garden. I hate the dark days of November and December which is why I love Christmas with all the lights to cheer us. I do like the colours of autumn though.

Coming back from swimming lesson yesterday my GS was kicking his feet through heaps of dead fallen leaves. "Nanny, it's like Autumn", he said. Please, not yet, I thought; I seem to have missed the Summer somehow this year! We picked blackberries on Monday but for the most part they are small this year. There are heaps of sloes coming on though. There were hardly any last year.

MiniMouse Wed 19-Aug-15 11:55:47

The evening air definitely has a bite to it now. I love autumn, too, but not the darkening evenings sad

granjura Wed 19-Aug-15 14:03:15

rosesarered- I am a snow girl- and I just love January and February, lots of snow, crisp and cold and vast blue skies and so so bright- must say I didn't enjoy those 2 months in all the years I lived in the UK- in fact November to end of March were so glum.

durhamjen Wed 19-Aug-15 14:16:31

I just went into my garden to hang out some clothes, and it was 27 degrees out there. Masses of butterflies around. So not Autumn yet.

PRINTMISS Wed 19-Aug-15 15:10:31

I think there is definitely a chill in the air in the mornings and evenings. It reminds me of a long time ago when my friend and I would cycle to work, and her favourite saying as the days became shorter was "It is very autumnal". Lovely friend, still with us, thank goodness.

D15covery Wed 19-Aug-15 16:57:06

Raining here now but did you see the beautiful sunset last night, need to make the most of it.

D15covery Wed 19-Aug-15 17:00:17

Did anyone see the beautiful sunset last night, make the most of it.

nannabo Wed 19-Aug-15 17:02:02

Did I miss summer lol

janerowena Wed 19-Aug-15 20:04:46

Yes, the light is now that golden autumnal light, even though it's still warm. I have been in shorts today, but it's dark much earlier and not always warm enough in the evenings to eat outside. Round about August 15th the light starts to change colour. If you count back from the summer equinox though, we are now equivalent to late April. We are warmed up, but cooling rapidly.

Back to school weather, car windows need wiping with condensation on them, heavy dew on the grass...love Autumn and spring ....have blinked and missed summer..
