Strange ears

Lately I've noticed that my ears are folding over when I lay down on my pillow at night. They never used to do this- are they getting floppier/larger as I age do you think?

luckygirl I love it - please persuade your DD to make a You Tube video - that would definitely go viral. smile as for ear-selfies - earings in or out would you say?

if an audiologist says that, I'll believe it

Luckygirl Thank you for that! I have just been sitting here trying. No luck though.

harrigran You could try these Quite comfortable in the daytime at any rate, I wear them with a cycling helmet. (I am only suggesting the earmuffs, don't recommend the cycling helmet in bed unless you fall out a lot) grin

I can wiggle my ears too. I don't do that with a cycling helmet either.

Yes. Ears do get bigger as we age - and after. My DD studied Audiology and when the last-but-one pope was lying in state she stunned me by remarking 'His ears will still be growing'. Apparently our ears carry on growing for 5 days after we die!

Eeew! We were told at school about hair and nails continuing to grow after death. And now ears too? I really hate that thought - that much of my body will still be carrying on after I've stopped.

I must admit I don't pay much attention to my ears - except to hang dangly earrings on. I'd always supposed that was why my lobes are getting bigger not that they were just heading south along with much of the rest of me. shock

Hair and nails don't really grow after death - the skin dehydrates so that they stick out more and look as though they have grown. Ears probably the same.

Yes its true. ..earlobes droop some as we age....especially if we wore heavy earrings in the past. Piercing will enlarge too. I have always had very small ears...now at 78 the lobes droop. Wear stud earrings if it bothers you...other have new piercing higher up so droop isn't as noticible.

Thanks Elegran. I feel much better now!

Thank you so much icylittle, what a brilliant idea. This is the first time anyone has offered a solution to my painful ears smile

One of my granddaughters has very sticky-out ears and very thin hair so they can't be hidden. Nobody has ever teased her and she doesn't seem at all bothered. She recently had her ears pierced (she's eight) which I would not have allowed if I was her mother as she's too young and sparkly earrings only draw attention to her wing-nut ears.

Three of my grandchildren have very sticky out ears. They live in Spain. DIL is Spanish and the two girls had their ears pierced at a couple weeks old. Apparently it is the custom. I was shocked the first time. DIL blames husband's family for the ears but her dad and brother also sport the same! Apparently all three are on the list in Spain to have them pinned back. Do they still do that here?
