Nonnie, I'm so pleased . We are still waiting for karma to get the Idiot but we have loads of ammo - much like yours I assume. Glad you are getting a bit of karma too Lona - are small karmic redresses better than one big one, do you think?

jings it's quite easy to sack volunteers - you just tell them not to come back again and they have little or no comeback. Lots of charities have contracts to supply services - Victim Support, WRVS, Cafcass etc

Elrel, in Leicestershire, where I live, the County Council have offered local communities support to take over the running of all village libraries or see them close. Our village is lucky in that we have a very active Community Association who were able to take the task on. We were the first to go live so have been guinea pigs but it seems to be going well. We have to become.self supporting in seven years so our main priority is to make the building 'earn' during its closed periods. 'Luckygirl* is involved in running her local library but in a different way, I think.

Nonnie we are waiting too (it's been ages) for something similar, but in the meantime several small but satisfying things have happened to him! Evil

I have just heard something which makes me believe! Legal advice is that the person causing all the trouble has done something which, if we report it, means instant custodial sentence!! So empowering to know it can be used if we choose.

Kitty - interested to hear about your library - our small local library, built in 1960s to last 10 years, was recently demolished and is much missed. We haven't quite been told it won't be rebuilt but some supporters are losing heart. Should a group of volunteers agree to run it there are obvious legal and financial implications. How has your group managed these? Thanks!

kitty, I'm delighted for you. And it looks as though there are quite a few of us waiting patiently for a bit of karma to redress past ills.

I have only just read this and I have been waiting for SO long for one particular friend just to have one tiny episode of karma to happen to her. She has the most perfect family, everyone of them, and we get told on every possible occasion, and our DC and GC unfavourably compared. Of course we don't want the families to have any sort of mishap, that would be awful, but just a little blip please

Nonnie, I am sorry you are having a bad time and hope you get things sorted out soon.

You are, however, a much nicer person than I as I am soooo chuffed about the karma that has been visited on my former managers. I still keep grinning about it!

You give me hope Kitty that a particularly bad situation I am in which I have no way of controlling and cannot ignore will eventually come back and bite the perpetrator who did something last week which makes me think they are very sick. My ideal would be that they are offered help and accept it.

That's the situation in our village Penstemmon but the library assistants have, thankfully, been redeployed elsewhere. It was very delicate for a while but we are going well now.

I think the job I was previously doing is not done at all now, which is a shame for the people who needed help but divine retribution for the people who purported to provide the service. I loved that job and my point it that their attitude probalby helped make them redundant. And other people affected by the absence of me and the other volunteers say they really miss our input!

Luckygirl it is a real Hobson's Choice in that situation!

I'm all for a bit of Karma

We run a local village library once a month - basically we are volunteer librarians and the professionals, who previously ran the library van, have lost their jobs. But it was do this, or completely lose the library service in the locality. It really is not right, but, as penstemmon says at least people have access to books.
