My mother will be 90 this year and I am really stuck as to what to give her. She had a stroke some years ago and lives in a nursing home so space is limited, she doesn't wear jewellery and has never had any hobbies.
My brother is considering making up an album of photos of his children and grandchildren as they were growing up but as I didn't have children that option isn't open to me. I was thinking about getting a newspaper compilation of things that happened on the day she was born but knowing her she will look at it once and then put it away in a drawer!! Also bear in mind whatever I buy I will have to carry with me to Australia. Any suggestions?!

where the picture changes every few seconds? An elderly lady I knew had one next to where she sat and it showed photos of her family. My son then bought me one and, I have to admit to finding it a bit depressing, imagining myself in years to come gazing at the photos. But then, when I got to grips with my digital camera I realised that it was a good way to view my own holiday photos, and my family put their holiday photos on a memory stick so I can add to it. If she had one the family could update their photos every so often and I'm sure the staff in the nursing home could operate it for her.
