I stumbled down an unseen step in a church today...

I said, "God Almighty!!!"

To anyone who might have heard me - I was praying.

It's not an argument - it is a light-hearted exchange! smile

God! Some people can argue over anything. hmm

Luckygirl Mon 13-Jul-15 14:27:40

Some do, some don't - and certainly they did not used to do until a few years ago - many is the high note I have hit with a full bladder! Improves the tone I can tell you!

Lilygran Mon 13-Jul-15 10:36:16

Then you know many of them now have loos, Luckygirl!

Luckygirl Mon 13-Jul-15 09:40:14

Liliygran - the answer to your question is yesterday. As a a singer I go to lots of churches.

Katek Sun 12-Jul-15 23:17:47

Def improvement on having a blue Portaloo tucked round the corner of the south transept I would have thought!

Lilygran Sun 12-Jul-15 22:15:33

When did you last visit a CoE church, Luckygirl? In spite of the inordinate cost of installing a loo in a Grade 1 listed 11th century building or something equally problematic, a lot of churches have done it. And perhaps the vicar wasn't so much trendy as defeated by there being no drains within half a mile of the building. Or the impossibility of digging up a 14th century floor. Or the inadvisability of disturbing the remains of the parish ancestors!

What a Cheapskate! We have one, its grand opening was only a year or so ago - but you can sit down on ours! grin The embarrassing part is asking for the key.

Luckygirl Sun 12-Jul-15 21:18:59

A local trendy vicar decided to install a composting toilet in a little shed behind a church - the opening is just a slit and is fine (or relatively) if you just want to pee ............ I will say no more!

etheltbags1 Sun 12-Jul-15 21:11:31

Jingle Im surprised you didn't use the f word. You are improving. grin

Maggiemaybe Sun 12-Jul-15 20:59:35

Our local C of E church has one loo, so must buck the trend. It's in the dark depths beyond the altar, through changing rooms, behind screens, velvet curtains and the like. My DC always used to want me to take them after Sunday School, and I had to half close my eyes, in case I stumbled across one of the clergy or choir in a state of partial undress. grin

Luckygirl Sun 12-Jul-15 18:48:20

.......and no toilets! I always joke that you can tell a non-conformist church because their congregation is able to empty their bladders.

Bellanonna Sun 12-Jul-15 18:26:08

But I'm glad they don't

Lilygran Sun 12-Jul-15 18:23:40

Wish it were true! But I'm always surprised more people don't sue; dark interiors, uneven steps, uneven paths, falling masonry......

Luckygirl Sun 12-Jul-15 17:37:30

I should sue - the C of E is awash in dosh!

Was it on here that I read there's a 'Stairway to Heaven' but a 'Highway to Hell'-does this reflect the numbers going in each direction?!?

Katek Sat 11-Jul-15 22:00:48

I probably shouldn't laugh but I am!
