always wear black shoes and carry a black handbag? She has such lovely clothes in beautiful colours but when you look down there are these same black shoes spoiling the line. I realise she problems has many such pairs and its not the same ones all the time and that they are handmade by elves and kissed by the fairies but I would love to see her with some summer colours to co-ordinate her outfit- I don't mean matchy-matchy but something lighter. I expect its just me that's bothered isn't it?

I just made that up from my fertile imagination folks.( the white sling backs.)

Thank you, grumppa grin

white slingbacks ......really ? ....surely only when visiting Essex...grin

Lilygran Sat 11-Jul-15 20:16:15

And I've seen photos of her wearing wellies. Daily Mail strikes again!

"the annual judging of stiff upper lips in Margate"?

She does stuff like that all the time.

Ana Sat 11-Jul-15 19:49:02

Oh. How odd...

annodomini Sat 11-Jul-15 19:48:01

I knew it was the same link, Ana. I only re-posted it because it seemed that a lot of the subsequent posters hadn't read it. hmm

I wore white slingbacks in 1957 too, but not any more, thank you. I'd fall off them sideways.

She was a young thing then, so white sling-backs would have been Ok, but I can't imagine her in them now.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 11-Jul-15 19:39:58

Which Queen was that Roses?

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 11-Jul-15 19:37:44

Keep up at the back there Anno.

Ana Sat 11-Jul-15 19:32:10

That's the same link I posted this morning, anno...hmm

rosesarered Sat 11-Jul-15 19:30:57

Told you..... White leather.

annodomini Sat 11-Jul-15 19:29:32

The Queen’s selection includes plain black leather, black patent, white leather and beige leather, and three designs of evening shoe in satin, silver and gold.

Looking back through the archives ( someone has to do it) I find that in June
1957 the Queen wore a beautiful pair of white sling back stilettos for the annual judging of stiff upper lips in Margate.

grumppa Sat 11-Jul-15 19:15:08

If you were Queen you could choose your own shoes. Can't think of any other reason why you couldn't be Queen.

thatbags Sat 11-Jul-15 18:57:12

Another reason I couldn't be queen. Horrible shoes.

Ana Sat 11-Jul-15 18:03:20

roses! grin

rosesarered Sat 11-Jul-15 18:02:16

Or diamonds on the soles of her shoes?

Lona Sat 11-Jul-15 18:01:27

I think it spoils her outfits too. How difficult would it be to make the same shoes in cream or navy or brown? She could have even have the soles in red if she wanted to impress! wink

rosesarered Sat 11-Jul-15 17:49:50

I have never noticed what colour shoes she wears.Surely she wears navy now and then at the very least!?

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 11-Jul-15 17:46:02

I believe it.

Amazing we haven't noticed about the shoes before! Good link Ana.

annodomini Sat 11-Jul-15 17:43:46

I think someone in the royal household has been spinning the DM a yarn. 'Cinders' indeed!!

ninathenana Sat 11-Jul-15 16:52:21

DH's cousin made handmade shoes for Queen mum

vampirequeen Sat 11-Jul-15 16:41:39

I think I read somewhere that many years ago she found the perfect shoe style and height for standing around and decided to stick to it. Same goes for the bag. It's comfortable to carry.

Lilygran Sat 11-Jul-15 15:12:44

I don't expect she wears them with a ball gown! Probably trainers like a lot of us older women. You can't see them under a long skirt. I've seen pictures of her in riding boots, as well. I don't think, if you have handmade shoes, you need to 'wear them in'. And, just to be difficult, the shoes in the Daily Mail pictures aren't all the same! The elves and the shoemaker - my DS loved that story, Teetime!
