Des O'Connor Nelliemoser. Val seemed to belong to a gentler age...as did Des but I never found him as 'genuine' as Val. Irish singers have more 'edge' these days....Van Morrison and The Poges for example . Not that I dislike them, and many would say Val Doonican represented an Ireland that has gone and thank God for it, but I regret the fact that we don't see his like today.

He was 88 a great entertainer rather dated by today's tastes but very funny.

Wasn't it him who used to get soundly teased by Morecambe and Wise?

I always thought he must be a lovely bloke.

Very sad news but I bet he had some really good times during his years don't you?

He crtainly could show some of today's celebrities what a class act is like.
