......with a pair of totally inappropriate cerise pink suede ballet flats. They're gorgeous! I only have one or two outfits that they would go with and they're quite impractical and a bit pricey. Managed to walk away but still keep thinking about them. What to do?!? I'm coveting them! Should nannas wear cerise pink suede??

Bellanonna Thu 25-Jun-15 11:37:20

Yes, link please.
Slightly off thread but I do my toenails in green or blue and people often say they look nice. I'm not an arty farty type, but love colour and see no reason why I should abstain from anything that appeals to me. Within reasonable reason. I would never wear things that are essentially for the young. Mutton and lamb etc.

I bought a pair of turquoise suede cowboy boots. I love them. I went out and bought a jumper to match and then a handbag. And I wear them in public as well. grin

Go for your pink pumps, a pretty scarf and a charity shop handbag to match, enjoy.

Yes katek yes and can we have a link I think I would like some too!

trisher Thu 25-Jun-15 11:17:46

Kateyk of course you buy them! You wear them on every possible occassion even when they don't go with the outfit and especially when you are with anyone who would think grans shouldn't wear pink suede shoes!

Bellanonna Thu 25-Jun-15 11:05:27

Katek, those shoes sound gorgeous. I wouldn't even hesitate. I'm 75 in September and most of my shoes are ballet pumps. Tbh I never even thought of them as being inappropriate. They seem to suit me though probably not good for my dodgy knees. I'm not a typical 70+ year old, and a bit mad, so that probably helps. I keep thinking about pink cerise, and now I want a pair ! I often wear with leggings and a long-enough top.
Hope you've actually got them by now. There is a high street shop, presume I can't mention it, but its name implies a comparative degree of heat. I took one look in there and beat a hasty retreat. I'd need to be old to be seen alive in that stuff ! Enjoy the lovely pink cerise pumps.

YES buy them. I will be 66 this year and last year I bought a pair of tight fitting black knee high suede boots with a heel. I wear them with opaque tights and a skirt above the knee sometimes (hussey). I think we can be too sensible at times as we get older. I went with DH earlier in the year to buy a new three piece suite. We always have a dark sensible one so that it doesn't show marks. In the shop we spotted a cream leather one and it was gorgeous. We ummed and aahed but eventually we decided to go for it and it's here and its beautiful smile

KateK

Unless you have 'flippers' instead of feet how can a pair of cerise ballet flat shoes be inappropriate. (you don't do you?)

Buy and enjoy .. Buy more outfits to go with them too. wink.

Happy shopping.

Yes, go for it !

It's funny how some things in your wardrobe just cheer you up.

gillybob Thu 25-Jun-15 10:02:25

I have got a pair that sound exactly the same katek smile

They were half price and they just called out to me and I had to have them. I very rarely buy anything like this on impulse but there was something about them that lifted my mood. I never try and match them up to any outfit but they do "go" fabulously well with skinny jeans (actually any jeans), cargo trousers and navy chinos.

So go for it katek you will feel like a new woman. grin

You won't regret it Katek, I recently bought some black ballet flats with tiny beads and every time I wear them I think how fab they look.

I also hesitated buying them, the price and because they are not the most practical shoes. I am so glad I did now.

Grannyknot Wed 24-Jun-15 21:37:02

kate I have a pair of silver Converse smile

Slightly off topic, or maybe not smile am I the only one who one fine day looks at a "had to have it" purchase that I've been happily wearing and think "What the hell were you thinking?" and then never wear it again. Or, I take something off the rack only to realise in the fitting room, that my mind's eye saw the 23 year old me in it...sad grin

Ceesnan Wed 24-Jun-15 21:30:43

Katek I agonised for ages as to whether to buy a pair of bright red patent Doc Martins. I finally gave in and bought them and have never once regretted it. Buy them and enjoy!

NannyGoat12345 Wed 24-Jun-15 21:22:42

lol @ downtoearth

KateK - get 'em, they are calling your name, life is too short not to do without them.

baubles Wed 24-Jun-15 21:16:38

Yes, yes, yes. They sound fabulous and you'll love wearing them.

Katek Wed 24-Jun-15 21:12:00

I am convinced!! Back in town on Friday and then the shoes will be mine, all mine!! Have realised that I already have a scarf that will match them perfectly. Perhaps might need a couple of tops......hmm....

Judthepud2 Wed 24-Jun-15 20:53:40

Of course you should get those shoes Katek Life is short!

rosesarered Wed 24-Jun-15 20:51:46

kittylester Wed 24-Jun-15 20:47:45

I have some flat suede loafer-y things from Moshulu and I wear them lots - they are comfy and a fabulous joy to wear!!

Coolgran65 Wed 24-Jun-15 20:39:32

I have a pair of cerise suede flats with bow. Love love love them. They go with everything. Picked up a nice big lawn type fabric scarf in the same colour to coordinate the shoes.
Wear them with pride and love !!

annsixty Wed 24-Jun-15 20:10:44

And I am the most sensible person on the earth, I just like encouraging people to do unsensible things. I never did and boy do I regret it.

downtoearth Wed 24-Jun-15 20:10:04

yes get them ....have cerise pink leather flats....go with nothing..

had to check to make sure it didn't mention black plimsoles, school shoes, ugg boots or shoe zone..grin

annsixty Wed 24-Jun-15 20:07:03

Think of all the outfits you can justify buying just to get "the wear out of them".

ffinnochio Wed 24-Jun-15 19:58:51

I agree with everyone else - buy them, wear them and enjoy them.smile

whitewave Wed 24-Jun-15 19:51:58

I bet you find all sorts of outfits they will go with. I love bright colours and wear them as often as possible. Colour is life enhancing.
