What is meant by "He (or she) has a weak character"?

I wasn't saying that Ex was weak, although he did once say he thought he was. I was saying that people who stay with people like him aren't weak, neither are they if they go.

I did however always think that his mother was weak, she was a real ditherer and apparently always had been, according to her sisters. She never seemed to have an opinion of her own, always letting others choose for her. Then fighting hard to show disappointment because it wouldn't have been her choice!

Someone once described me as weak, mainly I think because I am under confident and (because of my childhood) never pushed myself forward and was a bit of a mouse. This person had no idea about my life. I used to consider myself weak when I was younger because I was so nervous and afraid of a lot of things. I now consider myself strong, because I have survived it all. I think the expression 'walk a mile in someone else's shoes' is a good one.
