Just seen about bananas being the top thing we buy at supermarkets on impulse. I think this might be right in my case, but only because the layout of my local tescos means they're the first thing I see as I walk in. Lucky it's not the biscuit aisle actually - that would be dangerous. grin
What do you always seem to buy on impulse when you shop?

Well, my banana cake is delicious, so glad I read this thread. I didn't have enough butter so I used a good olive oil instead.
Waistline has increased accordingly!

I love bananas.

Bananas wouldn't be an impulse buy for me- they are a necessity and I eat one everyday. Lovely, freshly baked bread would be an impulse buy or cherries.

lou I really didn't want to know that recipe! grin

Unusual fruit. If I see one I haven't had, or haven't had for ages, I have to buy it. Or seafood.

I seem to spontaneously buy anything I shouldn't eat, cakes, biscuits, crusty French bread....

Incidentally bananas on a bbq are lovely, don't peel, cut a slit down one side, insert pieces of chocolate and wrap in foil. Cook for about 5 -10 minutes depending on how ripe they are (use soft ones it's quicker) and then serve with cream grin or ice cream, bliss......
If feeling really indulgent drizzle them with rum before serving.

Stolen from friends' larders, fridges, cupboards?

Ana Sun 07-Jun-15 19:14:32

But if you don't buy any of those nice things, where do you get them from? Seriously.

apricot Sun 07-Jun-15 19:11:50

Ana, no I'm not slim. I battle constantly with my weight because I'm very greedy and if there's anything nice within reach I can't leave it alone.

etheltbags1 Sun 07-Jun-15 11:42:20

loopylou I never got the job, cant think why.

loopylou Sun 07-Jun-15 11:37:50

iPad's fine ethelbags, keep them coming!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't proof read things - and auto text has a lot to answer to!

Did you get a response from the prospective employer? grin

etheltbags1 Sun 07-Jun-15 11:26:36

OMG Ive just read what I said yesterday and I think I have undone at least some of my internal stitching with laughing. Sorry I will have to be more careful with my spelling

.loopylou hope the ipad is ok.

Reminds me of the CV I sent to an employer which I had typed 'I have lots of experience working with the pubic' (public)

Ana Sat 06-Jun-15 22:10:54

Are you saying you're not slim, apricot? From what you've indicated about your diet there doesn't seem to be anything else you could cut down on, if you're not...confused

rosesarered Sat 06-Jun-15 21:20:50

Apricot! that's for hamsters.grin

apricot Sat 06-Jun-15 21:17:32

You must all be slim. I don't buy bananas, bread, biscuits, sweets, cheese because they're all too high in calories. I'm also veggie and avoid milk. There's not much left but my impulse buys are seeds and nuts.

Lona Sat 06-Jun-15 16:45:50

Thanks to this thread, I've just made a banana loaf using three mushy bananas, and it smells yummy!

Bellanonna Sat 06-Jun-15 16:29:21

Just saw the Freudian slip. Nearly choked on my QS

Bellanonna Sat 06-Jun-15 16:26:59

Quality Street. And not always impulsive, more compulsive. Not good, I know.

loopylou Sat 06-Jun-15 16:21:28

grin!
Brilliant ethel just spat tea all over myself and my iPad!

Marelli Sat 06-Jun-15 16:13:42

Oops etheltbags1 shock - a t WHAT and shorts? grin

etheltbags1 Sat 06-Jun-15 15:32:27

my impulse buys are almost always in the bakery department, lovely gooey cream cakes or fresh bread.
the only other impulses are in the clothing dept if there is a sale, I will buy t shirts I don't need, dresses I may need in the future or leggings.
As Ive said before I don't dress up much but recently knowing I was to have surgery I bought leggings with nice stretchy waists, long tops to cover my bump (surgery swelling not pregnancy)and t shirts just in case I was in hospital longer than expected. I prefer a t shit and shorts for bed.

Teetime Sat 06-Jun-15 15:20:17

My impulse buy is dark chocolate and really good crusty bread.
Bananas are essential purchases - how else could I get round 18 holes of golf without a banana?smile

Judthepud2 Sat 06-Jun-15 14:40:17

Love bananas! Great for a quick snack or, in my case, a sleepless night snack with granola. Have just walked through M&S which had a display of summer goodies. Came out with a bottle of rhubarb and ginger presse and a box of 6 handcrafted lemon meringue tartlets. That was an hour ago. There are now 2 handcrafted lemon meringue tartlets left! blush

Banana loaf cake is a good use of over ripe bananas.
Ashtree Labradors will eat anything, anything at all, shudder, like a tiny dried dead frog in the road.
