A morning well-spent?

Lady muck here - spent the morning emptying one of our many compost bins and taking it to one of the raspberry beds which I weeded yesterday and OH strimmed the long grass all around- and put a good few cm all around the stems- and the rest on the strawberry beds. Too hot now to go and finish- will do so a bit later- and then teaching late afternoon (I teach various students French (my MT) English and German.

Will be mighty busy next 2 weeks as, now we have a guest bathroom- will be hosting my first students for a residential course (French) for a young Danish couple. Quite excited, as this is what I did in the UK last few years we lived there- residential English courses for French, Swiss, German and Italian students.

Suitably inspired by the OP, I have spent the day downloading, sorting and filing invoices, statements and receipts until I feel as if my head is twirling 360° at 78rpm. So, for a change, I have spent the last hour and a half happily doing my homework for my language class next Tuesday. Now it is time for a well-earned before I start cooking lasagne.

I had a morning reading through Solicitor's letters for my dad regarding his LPA and Will to check everything was ok for signing. It is not and so tried to contact solicitor at lunch and got answering machine. Tried again later and same thing so went to bed with headache. I will continue tomorrow.

Our youngest daughter has spent the last few months sorting these sorts of things out for us, whereas we get all confused and flustered, she takes it all in her stride and sails through it! She`s saved us a fortune in insurance alone.

This morning I did a few jobs which have been annoyingly outstanding for ages but not ' exactly urgent.

Got password from surgery so I can go online to book appointments, access my medical records etc.

Got new glasses adjusted.

Looked in newsagents' window to see if there was an odd job man advertising, and there was. Now I can get the wood over the garage which has been rotting away for years fixed (hopefully).

Did more research around clothes shops for top to wear to a wedding in August.

Free coffee in Waitrose but I had to buy a banana (25p). Resisted the almond croissant.

I used to hate doing DH's tax returns. That public information film with Moira Stuart popping out of a cupboard under the stairs to remind everyone that the deadline was due used to give me nightmares!

Well done MamaCaz. I've been messing about on the internet but I have lots of boring paperwork that needs done, and it's so great once it is done, I know.

I wish, Teetime - I picked the grandchildren up from pre-school at 1am and am looking after them until teatime. They have been cooped up all morning so are now racing around like mad things. I'm definitely having the cup of tea though

Well done mamacaz although its stressful it would be worse to let these vital admin tasks get ouot of hand. Hope you are putting your feet up this afternoon with a nice cup of tea.

oh and I now am proud owner of a new silver crown fitted this morning,am waiting for numbness to wear off as I want something to eat and drink...

That is time well-spent, MamaCaz! I've been putting off clearing out the cellar by researching tariffs and switching our energy supplier (like you) and doing some research and booking for our next holidays. That's been stress enough for one morning, but I'm afraid I find the thought of getting down those cellar steps and sorting out all the rubbish keepsakes and accumulated paperwork even more so.

I think I've got to an age where I just want to spend my days doing a bit of gentle reclining on a chaise longue.

It certainly isn't! Mind you it feels great when its all done!

No, I hate it all. I spent years sorting out stuff like that for a living, I got so stressed about it that I jacked it all in and retrained as a gardener. Now I look at paperwork and feel sick sometimes.
