this subject has been brought about by my thread about granparents commitment, a granny who likes holidays and is happy to childmind as long as she has her holidays. I began to think to myself, why do people like holidays?
Can anyone tell me why they spend a fortune to go off carrying heavy bags to a destination where the accommodation is not the same as home, spend days eating strange food and returning home exhausted and to face the problems they thought they were going to escape.
All my holidays I have cut short as I got bored, I hated having to lug suitcases full of clothes, hated having eat strange food and just found no relaxation whatsoever.
The only times I have enjoyed were weekends in t he lake district or going to our elderly caravan in rural Northumberland, many years ago. This was because I took few clothes and wore the same thing till it was scruffy, ate takeaways or bacon sandwiches, hence little washing up.
Then I could go home when bored. My late DH was very laid back and if I was bored he was ok about going home.
Someone recently told me about a cruise where she had to take sumptuous outfits and had dined at the captains table, none of this would impress me, scruffy jeans would be my clothing and to hell with the captain.
However so many people seem to be desperate to have a holiday I am thinking is it me, can anyone tell me what is so attractive about a holiday
of any sort.
