Our library committee has to provide the service for at least 20 hours per week, in the Library building (which we will have to fund within 3 years, with help from the Parish Council) as well as trying to turn it into a village hub! We have to fundraise like billy-o (who is he?) and don't really have access to the library before the takeover as there are currently staff working there who are about to be made redundant and they are quite unhappy about it all - understandably. But, in their wisdom, the County Council has decided that we will be a 'Beacon Library' and lead the way [or fail spectacularly so they can learn from our mistakes!]

My pal's ironing done and now in neat piles on her bed. Mine is waiting. Hey! Guess what? Andy Murray will be playing in the French Open at 3 o'clock. I'm all agog with excitement.

kitty - the library is definitely fun to do and a worthwhile service. And the council library service (what's left of it) are amazingly laid back about it all. If they weren't I probably wouldn't do it!

And it's a brilliant way to catch up on the village gossip!

pompa Please remember that you are a member of the Kitcheners club. We trust that you will remain fairly decent should you get the opportunity to sunbathe. We would hate to see the headline in tomorrow's newspaper - 'Man claiming to belong to the elite Kitcheners Club escorted from beach wearing next to nothing...with the exception of a becoming blush...' It has been so cold on the beach, I wouldn't need much to cover my modesty.

My 6 year old GS was getting in a flap whilst changing on the beach the other day and kept saying he wanted to hide his "dignity" - when I asked him where he kept his "dignity" he said "In my pants!"

I remember my mother getting very exasperated with me trying not to expose an inch of flesh when changing on the beach, I must have been about six?
She finally said 'you've got nothing to show' and I wondered when I would get 'something' but had no idea what she was talking about!

So sorry, but I need to rush away. Andy's match is very exciting. Novak is through. Poor Rafa! Anyways, I shall report back to you tomorrow morning. I trust that the that we're enjoying here is also looking kindly on you .

Andy is doing so well- I do hope that he gets through the semi final but that is a very big ask as he will be up against Novak.

Charleygirl I really do not know how I will be able to sit in my chair and remain silent throughout the match between Andy and Novak. Rory always leaves the room. The jumping up from my chair, waving arms in the air, loud instructions on how Andy should play the next point...all too much for a Zen-like pussy cat. Should Andy win...I swear I shall be delirious with joy.

Crafting...or even a crochet mankini for our pompa. Shall we suggest that Galen uses up some scraps of colourful wool.

Soop I too will be calling out and running round like a demented chicken. I am a tennis addict and I am proud of it.

My reason for wanting Andy to win is that I cannot forgive Novak for beating my favourite Rafa Nadal.

Come on Andy we are all rooting for you.

NanKate I am a huge Rafa fan. He is such a gentle giant. Novak can get a bit too big for his boots...as my late Nana used to say. Andy is a Scot...what more do I need to say.
