Bellasnana I am so sorry to hear your news. I haven't been on here much in the last couple of days.

Looking at all these other threads I think I will stay here. I have not been on here much lately and out all day today. Trying to catch up with any missed threads is a pointless exercise and I can happily live without any more stress for a while.

Sit me in the corner and bring out some hot chocolate. When I get some energy back I will do some baking.

Build a soundproof shed for Pompa and I will send Mr Moser along with his various brass instruments. You could have a large Brass ensemble with his collection.

Has anyone got a furnace and a some brass ingot making moulds?

You miserable lot ! you should be encouraging the artistic temperament in you men. Which reminds me, I have a bass drum in the loft, must take it to our GS next week (get our own back on the racket our children made on it)

Tell Mr M that I love brass bands, music rooted in our industrial past. He can come and join me in the summer house any-time.

Does he play in a band ?

Pompa An amateur orchestra, a wind band, a U3A jazz band and a brass band. These entail concerts and park bandstand jobs, brass band contests , war memorial last posts in November and festivals of remembrance.

Carols everywhere around Christmas. Many of the park gigs and Christmas carol jobs get the band a fee to help keep them going.

A big car showroom asks them to play in store around Christmas.
Too much stuff in my opinion.

Sorry to interrupt folks but I am very excited. Seven belted Galloways have just arrived in the field opposite. Well if they are not Galloways they are Dutch belted, all heifers. Hope they are here to stay as would love to see some belted calves.

Brendawymms I regularly pass a herd of banded Galloways near to the top of Winnats pass near Castleton in the Peak District.

If they are a Scottish breed they can probably tolerate the colder weather up on the hills there, better than other cattle.

It's usually just sheep up on the hills there.

This is East Sussex so very rare here. nelliemoser they are walking around the field checking it out.

Belted Gallloways were more common when I was a child. However, when I heard someone talking about Jersey cows, I thought they meant the Galloways, because they looked as if they were wearing a football jersey.

Belted Galloways remind me of teddy bears for some odd reason, or perhaps Pandas?
I haven't seen one for years, you are lucky Brendawymms!
We only have the usual Friesians and Hereford varieties around here.
There are Highland cattle on a farm near where we used to live, very pretty cattle although a little alarming with their huge handlebar horns!

Thank you, Loopylou. Throughout the evening, and as I went to bed, I was thinking of Bella and her dear husband. I awoke thinking of Bella and all her family.

Now, what's this business about Pompa's artistic temperament...from where I'm sitting, his plucking of the ukulele sounds kind of soothing. Or, could it be Rory's snoring that is rocking the room. Pompa you have a lovely way with words. I'm so glad that you decided to stay with us.

A very warm welcome to Merlotgran and it's always good to see Purpledaffodil and Nelliemoser and nightowl indeed all you lovely lot lolling relaxing on the chaise. It does seem to have stretched somewhat.

I have to say Bella and all the other GNs having a tough time are very much in my thoughts, such a very worrying time for them all.

Regarding artistic DHs, mine (possibly thankfully) isn't in the slightest bit musical although I have dragged him along to some orchestra performances that DD's played in.

It's clouded over here after a lovely start, so bit disappointing but at least it's not raining

Highland cattle are just lovely and despite their huge horns I think they are generally quite gentle beasts.

I remember on one of my geology trips we encountered a hold up at cross roads in a village in the middle of Mull where there was a cow and it's little calf just standing in the road. No one wanted to move them on and lots of photos were taken.

I dont think my garden would benefit though.

If mine is playing a harp up there, I wish he'd pop on down and give me some lessons on mine!

Your grey, damp bonnie Kintyre sounds good to me soop. I just hung out a load of washing and I could feel my back burning as I did. I had to put a shirt on top of my sun top to finish it off.
I don't usually hang washing out on a Sunday, for nological reason, but we are clearing out the spare bedroom and I keep finding things that need washing before they are put away.
The spare bedroom is looking good but the living room looks as a whirlwind has been through. I'll get back to it soon.

Dustyangel I am guilty of the Sunday washing thing, just now and then, but my mother would never have done it. I suppose it went with shops being closed and the general feeling of sobriety around Sundays back then

We always had to wear our 'best' clothes on a Sunday. Sunday school in the morning and then a Sunday afternoon drive before high tea. My mother also insisted on us girls wearing gloves on a Sunday to church. How things change!

CharleyGirl, how could you prefer Rory's snoring to my melodic tones ??? I can't imagine, or have you heard me play?
