My DGD, 5, asked her Grandad to marry her.

My son was small and we were staying at my mums house. She had venetian blinds in the bedroom, closed, so the room was dark. Son walked in just as she flicked the blinds open and the sun streamed in. 'Do it again Nanny!!' he laughed in delight as she alternately opened and closed the slats.
"Mummy Mummy, come quick" he called me.
"Nanny can make up down sunshine!!!"

DGD2 said that Grandad had a big tummy, but my tummy was little.

My DGS aged 3 told me that he wished he had a huge bum like mine so his trousers wouldn't fall down so much. I think he was trying to be vaguely complimentary and I'm trying to take it that way.
On another occasion, after a lengthy fruitless session on the loo he told me that its no use Gran, the poo must be hiding in my bottom. Tricky!

A small boy whom I looked after as a childminder showed me his potty containing a No2. He was reluctant to part with it, asking 'can't eat it, no?'!

What a brilliant thread and so funny - when my DD was 3/4 she was sitting at the worktop in the kitchen crayoning when the Charlie Rich record "If you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world" was playing on the radio - after a bit she turned to me and said "Mummy, why is that man looking for me?" I remember it as clear as day and this was 36 years ago! A truly delightful moment

My 5 yr GDD and I were having a discussion about when she grows up and can drive a car. I said "will you take me out with you" and she said "dont be silly nan, you will be dead by then"....smile

When eldest did was six she was playing I spy and wanted something beginning with S.

Turned out, when we had exhausted every possibility, the answer was 'smile' because grandpa always smiles a lot.

On another occasion, youngest dd aged three was listening to the song 'Charlie in my darling'. She said quite spontaneously 'grandpa is my darling'.

Their grandpa, my late FIL, who was a lovely man, adored them, and was so thrilled at the compliment!

I was helping DGD (aged 3) to get ready for bed, when she said "Granny, I've got Pepa Pig on my jamas, and R (sister) has got Cinderella on hers, what do you and Grandad have on yours?"
"What do you think we've got?" I asked.
"Well Grandad must have scary dinosaurs on his, and you've got Hairy McClairy from Donaldson's Dairy on yours"
"Exactly right," I said "How did you guess.

On our way out to the playground behind our house DGS1, "Come and play football, Pops. It's OK Granny, there's a bench for you to sit on." Maybe he'd realised how he had worn us out.

Falconbird DGD2 always strips the dollies (old ones that belonged to the DDs, two Tiny Tears and Sindies).

When she goes home I always dress them again!

Friend's little girl brings in potty proudly 'Daddy, I done a sausage!'

My Mum accompanied 3 year old DD2 to the loo. After a while and a bit of a struggle, DD said ' Gaggy, it's too fat to come out'

Waking up during a thunderstorm, DS2, pottered into our bedroom and announced indignantly, 'Man with big drum waked me up.'

I collected 12 TY dolls for my little grand daughter. She loves them and plays all sorts of games with them. They have lovely hair and easy to take off outfits.

One day when we were playing schools she looked at me and said

"Nan when you're by yourself do you play with the dollies?"

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

A neighbour's child said 'something beginning with w'. After many minutes of fruitless guessing, her parents gave up. Triumphantly she declared, 'Wadiator'!

When my little sister (much younger than I) was playing I-Spy she saw something beginning with J. We all trawled through everything in the room with no success, so we gave in. Triumphantly she said "Jressing gown!"

Grandaughter (3) yesterday. 'Let's play I Spy! My turn - I Spy with my little eye.' Looks round the room.....'erm, erm, what does babywipes begin with?'

GDG aged 2 in the bathroom yesterday, on spotting our small nailbrush.
"Ooh look, a little scrubber!".
