Things that you are scared about with the new Tory Government

I have seen a number of posters express deep concern about the conservatives having full power for the next 5 years.

Is it worth having a thread for posters to list their concerns?

I am not sure that other gransnetters can put their minds at ease at all, as it may be a case of wait and see what the conservatives do.

How rude, I can only imagine why that might be !!

Ana Sat 09-May-15 22:22:50

Yes, there are other theads, soon. Why don't you go away find one and post some more of your doubts and questions on it? smile

Ana Sat 09-May-15 22:20:24

Blonds are have more fun!

soontobe Sat 09-May-15 22:19:47

If there are not that many concerns and worries, then good.
And there are other threads.

There will always be Boris if we need a good grin

Soutra Sat 09-May-15 22:02:38

"We're a' doomed!" grin

Cheers Soutrawine
You are an oracle grin
As MIL used to say 'If things don't change they'll stay as they are'

grin Soutra

Don't you know the end is nigh, prepare to meet your doom......the Conservatives are in!

Talk about misery and despair.......

I'll be joining you too if things don't cheer up pdq!

Soutra Sat 09-May-15 21:43:34

I know I am perfectly at liberty to ignore this and any other politics thread, but I would like to say this seems unnecessarily provocative, even malicious.
Why is there an assumption that there are more things to fear?
The title reminds me of the classic question "Have you stopped beating your wife?" to which there is no correct answer!
Not blaming you soon as I don't think you meant it in this way, but what a pessimistic tone you have set.

To answer your question though, I fear we may have another washout summer, or possibly a drought. Planes will go up and leaves will fall, the latter in the Autumn. Christmas will be on the 25th of December and it probably won't be a White one,not around here anyway.
The same things will happen in 2016 and, indeed for the foreseeable future.
All I fear is than Gransnet will become Votersnet in which case I will have to content myself with Cookie Crunch and Facebook. grin

Gin makes me cry. sad

loopylou Sat 09-May-15 21:40:29

Or a G&T emoticon, I need one, now!

Notso Sat 09-May-15 21:40:07

I think I know the one you mean merlot....Vino Collapso?

merlotgran Sat 09-May-15 21:39:25

I'm stocking up in view of five years of austerity.

Notso Sat 09-May-15 21:39:01

With you there loopylou.

I may start another pointless thread about why there is no emoticon for white wine. We don't all drink red!

merlotgran Sat 09-May-15 21:38:43

It's an Aldi cheapo, Rosequartz. Spanish, I think but quite drinkable.

loopylou Sat 09-May-15 21:34:46

Talk about anticipating something! I don't mean to sound rude, but.........

How on earth can anyone voice their worries for the next 5 years?

confused and getting not a little very fed up with the endless post-mortems and gloom-mongering on GN.

Be b....y glad UKIP didn't win, then you would have something to worry about IMO.

Not sure there are many GNetters near the breadline, soontobe, although there may be.

Why are you so nosy anyway? You're getting on my nerves.

soontobe Sat 09-May-15 21:19:27

I started the op, for people to express their worries about the next 5 years. Which I think they are doing.
I hadnt really thought through a potential tory bash element, but I dont really think there is any of it.

I was possibly expecting some posts from people who are near the breadline, as well as other tory concerns. It is good to talk about fears?!

Ana Sat 09-May-15 21:18:34

I agree, merlot, what a lot of cobblers! 'Frightened', 'scared', 'dreading' - are people really quaking in their boots? May as well go to bed and pull the covers over their heads for the next five years if they are.

Leticia Sat 09-May-15 21:17:38

I equally had no faith in the Labour Party and their policies for education. (At least they would be committed to comprehensives and not the dreadful 11+ selection.)
No one can be as bad as Gove- one would hope.

loopylou Sat 09-May-15 21:15:47

Gloom-mongers having a field day on GN, I need wine wine wine

Ana Sat 09-May-15 21:12:59

soontobe, I think your sense of irony may need working on grin

merlotgran Sat 09-May-15 21:12:33

Why should anyone be scared?

There won't be a knock at the door at midnight (unless you're growing cannabis in the attic)
