Are you all real people?

I can't really make out my relationship with all the GNs as all the chat somehow has an unreal quality about it. Not sure why though.

I remember a thread from way back when we imagined what people's houses were from their GN name. Glamma has to have a Riviera bungalow with a pool, rosequartz definitely a Georgian townhouse with roses round the door, pompa , yes, a house with a balcony overlooking Portsmouth harbour, loopylou for you I see a chocolate box thatched cottage with flowerpot men and maybe the occasional Weed (oops, mixing my TV programmes), Ana, despite the apparent Spanish spelling, probably something quite classical and elegant, like those lovely New Town crescents in Edinburgh, janerowena you must live in a Stone or Flint cottage in a charming traditional market town, whitewave has a seaside house (maybe a beach hut?) and katek because of my memories of St Andrews and "Kate Kennedy" presumably lives in a grey stone hoose overlooking the Old Course!

Don't I talk tosh?(don't answer that!)

janerowena Sat 18-Apr-15 11:04:49

That's what I first think of, too! I loved her when I was little, but got really cross with all the cleaning she did, even at that age! I think I was born a feminist.

I found myself seeing this title and feeling really sad that someone might think that I am not real! I'm me, warts and all!

I'm as real as the first day the site started still as blonde minded as ever,I've seen many name changes but loads of people still post even after all this time and always have something interesting to say,I used to post every day but am busy at present so only get on when I can but still enjoy it,I've never been to any meet-ups but have in my minds eye ideas as to how every one presents themselves but I will most probably be completly wrong.
loopylou I automatically think of "Andy Pandy" when I see you name in print, that delightful little blue striped doll who was his friend.

pompa Fri 17-Apr-15 20:43:15

OMG, so far off, nothing like as exciting.

loopylou Fri 17-Apr-15 20:42:00

blush blush blush
Thank you! You've made my year!

rosequartz Fri 17-Apr-15 20:41:18

pompa I always think of you as ex-RN, from Portsmouth.

(a Pompey Rating?)

pompa Fri 17-Apr-15 20:36:31

When I see Looplou (her name rather than the person) I think of Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. A bit eccentric, ditsy on the outside but with a deep lovable personality, and subtly smarter than she makes out.
Apologies if this is wide of the mark.

Ana Fri 17-Apr-15 20:34:11

Yes, I got confused when talking to my GDs about Anna in Frozen (I haven't seen it) and they told me I was pronouncing her name wrong!

rosequartz Fri 17-Apr-15 20:32:00

It's just that I think of Anna (pronounced Ana) from Frozen when I think of you Ana.

Ana Fri 17-Apr-15 20:30:39

But thank you rose, I think! grin

Ana Fri 17-Apr-15 20:29:51

What???!!! I'm certainly not determined. I can dither with the best of 'em...confused

rosequartz Fri 17-Apr-15 20:21:44

I imagine you like Loobylou from the Andy Pandy books:

Sweet, lovely and slightly ditsy.
But you are probably not a bit like that (ditsy I mean).

Ana, of course, is determined, strong and resourceful!

loopylou Fri 17-Apr-15 20:13:58

Déjà vue hmm

Yes, I think there was a thread on how GNs 'viewed' others rosequartz very amusing too grin
In my imagination I'm beautiful, witty, rich and a philanthropist.....dream on!

Ana Fri 17-Apr-15 20:13:04

So many haven't put profiles up anyway (like you, rose) or have given so little information it was hardly worth it (like me!).

rosequartz Fri 17-Apr-15 20:05:38

I don't often look at Gransnetters' profiles, I have my own thoughts on what they are like when I read their posts.

Wasn't there a thread on that not long ago?

rosequartz Fri 17-Apr-15 20:04:11

If I'm not real then someone has bought a newer car today, out of my bank account and parked it outside my house ..........
loopylou - are you me or am I you?
Oh no, that happened a month ago and I keep looking at my bank account shock with nothing left in it.

Perhaps I am just a figment of my own imagination.
Tall, slim, blonde, vibrant and full of energy and great ideas, an organiser and innovater.

Just like you, whitewave grin

pompa Fri 17-Apr-15 19:58:24

You are right Ana, terminating was what I meant, rather than deleting, getting my own knickers in a twist.

Ana Fri 17-Apr-15 19:55:51

Deleted, yes - I thought when pompa referred to terminating the thread he meant cutting it short, i.e. not allowing any more posts.

Katek Fri 17-Apr-15 19:35:24

Ana......Didn't Grannyactivist ask for her last thread to be deleted as it was causing her family distress. She has not posted since.

pompa Fri 17-Apr-15 19:25:09

GNers can help with many things, but a virtual massage does not hit the spot. sad

loopylou Fri 17-Apr-15 19:19:21

How lovely! Sounds like my idea of bliss whitewave smile
It's not the same doing it yourself!

pompa Fri 17-Apr-15 19:18:56

I am way out of my depth on politics and stay out of those threads.

whitewave Fri 17-Apr-15 19:16:04

That IS real grin

whitewave Fri 17-Apr-15 19:15:34

Everyone's opinion is valid loop and if people are rude well it is their problem not ours. Anyway they aren't real so it doesn't matter.

I am off to have my feet massaged now.

loopylou Fri 17-Apr-15 19:11:21

If I'm not real then someone has bought a newer car today, out of my bank account and parked it outside my house ..........confused

I'm not clever enough to debate many GN subjects, and take some comments too much to heart (sighs again) sad
