Just watching the news ( with my cup of Bovril ) and looking at people in the South of England 'on the beach' with Ice Creams !!! It's only a few hundred miles away but could just as well be thousands. I am frozen...

It was warm enough yesterday afternoon to sunbathe in NW London and I think that today will be similar once the early morning nip in the air has vanished.

There are some lovely places in the north but the weather would just get me down. We had a great hols in York a couple of years ago in Maytime, however I was bone crushingly cold, especially on the coast in Whitby.

Living in the Thames Valley is good weatherwise, however we do seem to get a lot of grey days in the winter.

Still lovely here up North. We have been doing very well. I always feel sad for people working Mon-Fri when the weather is good only to have it change for their days off at the weekend. (Which I fear is going to happen this weekend. ) I always remember when working how much the weekend meant.
Oh how I love retirement !!

Good weather has returned to Normandy but it is certainly not as warm. We are eating all our meals outside but DD has decided against another swim in the sea.

The chimney sweep came today. Ideally timed because for the last few evenings we have been warm enough without lighting the fire, so the chimney is all ready for next winter.

Warm and sunny here in Washington DC. All of you in south west can expect it to go downhill on Sunday when we get back to Cornwall.

Had lunch in the garden again today but definitely a nip in the wind, I agree Charleygirl a good laundry drying day , I could mow the grass but I think I'll just read my book in a sheltered spot for a while.. still mustn't complain must we grin

The sun is shining in NW London but there is a nip in the air. I am not complaining because it is a good day for drying clothes.

The weather has gone off in Normandy, waether pleasant but the sun has gone to be replaced by light cloud and quite a bit cooler - but I have turned the heating off.

Pippa000 Sorry about this but you have made me feel good about being in the UK North Midlands UK with an outdoor temperature of 18C.

Winter drawers on for you. grin

Pippa000 Thu 16-Apr-15 13:20:58

I know this is a little off the main stream of the thread, but I am in Cyprus, the temperature outside the house is 14 degrees, I can see snow from my window and it is raining. I would love to be in sunny Wales right now.

Spent yesterday on the beach in Normandy, roughly level with the Channel Islands. DD went in for a swim!! DH managed it up to his waist. I stayed firmly on the beach because, as my family frequently tell me, I am a wuss when it comes to cold water.

We took 3 DGC to the splash pool at the local park this morning, here in Herts.
Had to keep tee shirts on them so they didn't burn.
All the oil seed rape, bright yellow in the fields, now.

Lovely here in Devon - we were out and about today and the sides of the roads are covered in celandine and primroses - even spotted the odd bluebell! And the birdsong up on Exmoor was amazing - all that sound, high up in the sky, and not a bird to be seen. Is it skylark song time yet?

Marmight Wed 15-Apr-15 19:46:20

I am blowing very big raspberries in the direction of everyone boasting of hot weather grin

Soutra Wed 15-Apr-15 19:40:43

Well we will know who to blame when it turns cold again won't we apricot!!

apricot Wed 15-Apr-15 19:26:31

I've ironed all my summer clothes and put away the winter ones so summer is here and it will be beautiful until September. Guaranteed.

loopylou Wed 15-Apr-15 18:51:51
