Last night I received an email from the daughter of an old friend to let me know that her mother can no longer eat, drink or speak and has only a matter of a few weeks at most. She was living independently until 8 weeks ago when her health took a dramatic downturn, it seemed to start with odd behaviour like giving away the contents of her freezer, and has progressed rapidly from there. Docs can't say exactly what's wrong despite numerous tests, but are coming down on the side of the small cell disease she had suddenly worsening.
She was such a unique and vibrant person, an actress with the most beautifully modulated voice. She was totally off the wall and we had such great fun when the children were small. I remember her baking an elephant cake for playgroup and us trying to cut it into 24 equal pieces!
Such a sad thing to happen to her
