The young man spoke only to my husband until it came to the split screen facility. He told me I could watch Coronation Street while my husband watched sport.

Many years ago when I was thinking of changing my car, adolescent flashy young salesman lost a sale when he said "would sir like to look under the bonnet while madam looks at the upholstery options". I think you can guess who where the dipstick was!

My DD now single again is changing her car. She has had to resort to taking a neighbour with her as she is regarded as fair game by salesman especially steering her to cars she didn't want.

Well done everyone! Car salesman lost my business last year when he went all 'don't worry your little head about that' on me when I asked about NCAP rating. They just don't get it, do they?

A salesman lost his appointment when he called to check that 'hubby' would be in as well.

I've just remembered another such incident when I went to buy a camera. I knew exactly what I intended to buy, as I'd already researched it, but the shop assistant decided to ask madam whether she'd like a pink camera or a purple one!!! Not a wise approach, but I was remarkably restrained and let him finish his patter, which was way beyond the Idiots Guide, before reeling off all my technical requirements, which did not include colour! He was quite sheepish after that and I ended up feeling sorry for him really!

Friends of ours went to buy a car for her. She had just inherited a great deal of money, and he was a self confessed mechanical incompetent who didn't drive. In the Mercedes showroom, the salesman addressed him continuously, ignoring her. Then she got her chequebook out, and said "How much?"

After a bit of confusion, he told her how much. "Right," she said. I was about to pay cash for this car. But first, I would like to see the manager."

Loved it! (They went to another Merc dealer.)
