My family has a lot of royal names.
My granddaughters two have names already in use by the royals and the other two have possible names which will be used if it is a girl.
My DS1 has one of Prince George's names, my DH has the names of two medieval kings and my name is similar to the Duchess of Cambridge's but I very much doubt they will use that version. I often joke to my family that I wish to be known as Catherine from now on but it did not go down too well. My grandfather had two cousins whose surname was Royal so we must be royal all right.
My niece has a daughter called Summer Rose but they will not use that one.

And my MIL was called Alice.

The Duke of Edinburgh's DM was called Alice, so a distinct possibility!
And there were quite of lot of Alices in the Royal Family but none this generation as far as I know.
So my money is on Alice (hypothetically speaking!)

How abour a homage to Great Auntie Anne whose third name is Alice too?

I have two given names, so have most of the family. My paternal grandmother had three or four, I think, but she was French, and also Catholic which may account for it.

rubylady, I don't think they will do trendy! The Queen's birthday has been and gone too, so he/she will not have to share celebrations. Kate has been swimming at Buck House this week, I wonder how long it will be before she goes into labour.

Of course most grandmas and great grandmas would be thrilled to share a birthday with their grandchild/ggc wouldn't they because there would be no doubt as to who had centre stage. Strange lot these royals.

There are many "phonetic" variations like Aleesha"(?) , but I cannot imagine them choosing a "made up"however trendy variation on a name.
