Worst job in the world?

Anything that involves disgusting smells and rats.
So going into the sewers would be my nightmare job.

Deep sea fisherman(woman?). I think that job has the highest mortality rate of any. Cold, wet, surrounded by thousands of square miles of sea. The sewers would at least be warmer.

Fishing, farming and construction always seem to be the top 3 professions in terms of fatalities and danger.

I watched a TV prog recently where three unemployed teenagers from the UK were sent out to Australia to work on a cattle ranch. It was hair raising! Their job was to herd thousands of scary, fierce, galloping cattle (not at all like our relatively quiet English cows) into pens and then through runs until finally they were loaded on to lorry trains to be taken to market. All this is 40 deg heat! That would be my worst job. Incidentally, all three of the teens pretty much succeeded and the boy (a bit of an upper class twit but nice with it) was offered a permanent job although he turned it down and went back to university.

I would rather face danger in the fresh air than stench and rats underground.

Although I have faced a few nauseous smells in my time!

Sewage works can be whiffy at times, depending on how the biological process is working. More so that sewers I believe.
The first time I visited one i was walking down the drive and hunky man in overalls coming the other way smiled and said "It's not true what they say, You never get used to it."
Think they do though. The also use humour to get by. Oncologist would be a tough call when you have to tell people there is nothing more you can do for them.

Aww Bikergran, temping probs. Filing away a 12 month backlog of paperwork that no one else could be bothered to do, that's what you usually end up with when temping. Been there, done that, feel your pain.

We have no 'worst jobs in the world' compared to the poor souls who live in other countries.

Think of the men, women and 'children' who have to scavage polluted rubbish tips to find items such as plastic containers, electrics, cables etc., you name it whilst sucking in deadly toxic fumes. Then go 'home' to a hovel, if they are lucky!

Children who are purpously maimed to go out on the streets to beg or those who are prostituted , yes I do know the latter happens here but the scale of this is astronomical in other countries.

So many deadly jobs we couldn't, wouldn't do but some have no choice to do them to simply survive. So many have to leave their families and children for years on end.

We can choose not to do a job because we don't like heights, can't see animals suffering, can't touch other peoples body parts, can't touch dead people, but others don't mind and elect to do jobs such as abbatoir workers, doctors, nurses, under takers, paint the forth bridge, coal miner etc. How lucky a nation are we!
