Yesterday morning the ventilator keeping my beloved husband of almost 51 years, died.
He died on the golf course which I guess is a good way for him to go.
Although he was 75 last week, he was still within the range for organ donation. So his kidneys and liver will live on in someone I hope.
As an obstetrician he brought life into the world, and on his way out of this world, he gave back life.
That was a comfort.

Crow I am sorry for your loss. As others have said, do think that he has had a chance to help others and that he was doing what he enjoyed at the time, it might help you knowing that. flowers

I too am so very sorry, yet so - I can't find the words. Impressed? By your ability to let some of him go on living, to bring life to someone else, as my own family can't understand my own wishes on this subject.

I do hope it brings you some comfort. flowers

So sorry to hear about your dear husband. My dear husband died in 2012. It's such a shock. You may find comfort on the pages dealing with widowhood. My thoughts are with you flowers

I'm new on here, so I don't know any of you, and it is so sad that the first time I come across you, Crow, is in a thread such as this. My heart goes out to you.

Thanks for the responses. I was showing my ignorance, I couldn't work out how someone who died on the golf course also had a ventilator.

Very brave post crow you have my admiration and my donor card is safely tucked in my purse.

My sincere condolences Crow. As you say he brought life into the world and is continuing to give life to others through his transplanted organs . Speaking as the wife of a man who would have died 18 years ago were it not for DH's successful liver transplant I am so grateful on the recipients' behalf. Thank you flowers

Ana Sun 22-Mar-15 22:29:51

I think that perhaps there was a bit of text missing in Crow's OP, ie 'the ventilator keeping my beloved husband of almost 51 years alive was turned off and he died.'

That was my interpretation, anyway.

Anya Sun 22-Mar-15 22:22:45

((((hugs))))

gillybob Sun 22-Mar-15 22:17:31

Crow said that she was hoping her DH's organs could be used in transplant Grannyknot so without going into too much detail I think perhaps that was why there was a ventilator involved.

I think Crow is being very brave and dignified bringing up the subject of possible organ transplant. There are so many people in desperate need.
