It's weird how you feel such an attachment to a wild creature that you only "knew" for perhaps and hour. It didn't seem terribly hurt but I would guess it may have died of starvation. It was absolutely beautiful. I actually didn't have the courage to phone the vet another lady dog walker did and told me.

That's really sad. They're such lovely creatures.

AlieOxon Sat 21-Mar-15 11:20:41

I'm sorry, whitewave.....sad

whitewave Fri 20-Mar-15 17:22:04

My Barn Owl died
sad

loopylou Fri 20-Mar-15 13:43:11

Yes! It was so depressingly dismal earlier almost anything would have been an improvement. Lovely sunshine now!
Clocks changing soon will be even better smile

Anyone else feel as if the eclipse has suddenly brought the spring?

ginny Fri 20-Mar-15 12:08:43

Better late than never they say. Not a very good view of the eclipse here. Sunny and clear now though.

DH is off to nearly SILs stag weekend so I will have a quite weekend doing whatever I want.

harrigran Fri 20-Mar-15 11:52:05

Good morning, just back from watching the eclipse. DS's astronomical society had an event with telescopes with solar filters fitted and we got a very good view of the eclipse.

AlieOxon Fri 20-Mar-15 10:46:57

I was lucky too and thin cloud suddenly cleared enough and gave enough protection so I could see the second half with sunglasses. (If every now and then I had to look away!) Oddly, double glazing gave a dimmer image as well so I could follow it from that.
So glad I didn't miss it.
My daughter had thought it was just a bit dark today!

I was in Cornwall for the 1999 total eclipse and the same thing happened, cloud cleared at the 'diamond ring stage. I feel even more lucky about that, as I had waited for it since 1954 at school in Manchester when there was total cloud.....

annsixty Fri 20-Mar-15 10:25:47

Yes * anno* we here were very lucky and the thin cloud cover gave excellent views and no it wasn't dark at all.

annodomini Fri 20-Mar-15 09:40:22

Good morning, the moon has done its business and is now beginning to clear the sun again. At first, I thought it would be too cloudy but it miraculously cleared, though sometimes with high cloud. I managed to see it with my very dark sunglasses with lenses from an old pair of clip-ons on top. Isn't it amazing how much light we still get from just 10% of the sun?

dustyangel Fri 20-Mar-15 09:35:20

Good morning everyone. The sun is trying to get through this morning but when I looked out just now all I could see were big, black clouds.
We are off to Faro again soon, when we got to our appointment last week, right in, sitting down in front of the woman, she told us there was a one day government employee's strike. shock
So back again this morning.

daffydil Fri 20-Mar-15 09:25:17

Good morning everyone.
Very overcast here too. Just found I've run out of one of my medicines so must go cap in hand to try to get an emergency prescription. Hope they will oblige without too much hassle.confused

PRINTMISS Fri 20-Mar-15 08:26:40

Good morning to you all, a little overcast here, so I doubt if we shall glimpse the eclipse. It is cold again, I was so hopeful that the fine weather we did have was a sign that things were going to warm up, but not so! Housework today, just does not seem to get done so often these days. Enjoy your day with the children annsixty.

Lona Fri 20-Mar-15 08:09:50

Good morning! It's fairly bright here but I've no idea how much we'll be able to see of the eclipse.
I've got nothing to do today except post a letter, thank goodness!

Ann enjoy your visit sunshine

baubles Fri 20-Mar-15 08:08:04

Overcast here too. Still, I've got my black bucket out in readiness, just in case the sun comes out. Breakfasting on hot cross buns that I baked yesterday. Yummy.

Good morning all.
Cloudy here as well. Oh well we were told it would be so not too disappointed. Friday shopping and beds to get ready as my DD and GC are coming for a flying visit and I haven't seen them since
October.

ninathenana Fri 20-Mar-15 07:00:32

Morning Mick and everyone.

Dull and grey here in N Kent. It doesn't bode well for vewing the eclipse.

12Michael Fri 20-Mar-15 06:49:34
