My daughter has just called from New Zealand with news that my granddaughter was born two hours ago at 27 weeks gestation. She weighs just under a kilo and is now in NICU. I'm shaking with shock and frustration - she's so far away and all I want to do is get on a plane and go and hug my baby. I'm on my way to Manchester as my mum goes into hospital for her cancer op today so I'm staying overnight at my sister's. The household is asleep and I've rarely missed my husband more than I do right now - he's in Newcastle and both his phones go straight to voicemail.
How lovely to see that photo at last, ga. She's scrumptious and it's obvious how happy you are to get those cuddles after such a long wait. Have a great time over there
Just came across this thread and read it holding my breath as your precious granddaughter's health wavered. My first grandson arrived, almost 20 years ago, mid-October although he wasn't due until after Christmas. Wonderful to see the photograph of you holding her. Warmest wishes to you and your family!
GrannyActivist how wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing your joy. Such a lovely baby! And what a miracle she is! congratulations! Glad you are now able to cuddle her like you have been longing to do these last few difficult months.
