how about a new and happy thread, for the good bits in our lives.

So today I smiled because the first redstarts appeared in the garden and a gaggle fo noisy fieldfares.

I smiled today when I noticed new leaves on all the fig trees. They seem to have come out overnight.

granjura Wed 18-Mar-15 14:26:48

Wistow?

J52 Wed 18-Mar-15 14:23:52

I smiled today because DS2 has just taken me to lunch at a garden centre and the sun was shining! x

Lapwing Wed 18-Mar-15 10:33:23

I smiled this morning because the sun was shining and I really enjoyed my early morning walk. Good bye to the winter blues. smile

'My' robin raised a smile when I saw him perched on the bird feeder, something he doesn't often deign to do.

ginny Wed 18-Mar-15 08:51:27

I smiled today because the local robin was waiting for his breakfast when I opened the curtains.

I smiled today because I love my life.

I smiled today because my dear youngest GD (just 2) came to us for the day and she is a ray of joy - I am on my knees with exhaustion now, but would not have changed a moment of it - even when she was saying "No"!

I smiled with relief when the U3A AGM was finally over!

I smiled today when my 2 doodle dogs were re-united after 4 nights apart. Their joy, it was a glory. They played bowed, grabbed each others ears and stood on their hind legs, play boxing. I honestly saw them smiling grin

kittylester Tue 17-Mar-15 16:39:24

I smiled today because I had coffee with my lovely friend this morning and because I finished my ironing this afternoon!! smile

mrshat Tue 17-Mar-15 15:37:01

I laughed out loud, a lot, this morning, at my U3A meeting, where we had a very entertaining speaker - it has left me smiling well into this afternoon! grinsmile

janerowena Tue 17-Mar-15 14:17:35

smile I forgot to smile! grin It really has taken a weight off my mind. smile

I smiled today because student DS rang today to say that he has just negotiated his very first overdraft all by himself. His extremely specialised computer broke down irretrievably a couple of weeks ago, he needs it for his course, and we simply can't afford to replace it for him, so it has been a bit of a worry. I had really though we would have to take out a loan or something - it's astonishing when you discover that they are adult enough to sort out things like that for themselves.

I smiled at the sight of a tiny toddler coupying down to watch a bumble bee on my primroses- she was virtually eye to eye with it!
I wish I was that supple, if I got down there I'd never get up againhmm

granjura Tue 17-Mar-15 14:02:48

Smiled again this afternoon as the first bees and butterflies were busy on the crocuses all along the house- let's hope all the banging upstairs (workers are hammering walls down!) won't frighten them away.

KatyK Tue 17-Mar-15 11:03:24

I love all these smiles. Thank you granjura. How lovely that will be for your DH. Mine didn't expect to get very far into his 50s as his mum died at 52 and his dad at 58, so despite all the problems lately he is very pleased to be 69 smile

Marmight Tue 17-Mar-15 10:30:07

I smiled today because my Aunt has just booked her local golf club for her 100th birthday party - well what else can you do when you hear something like that!

Katek Tue 17-Mar-15 09:45:02

I smiled today because I'm having lunch with two of my very best friends.

annsixty Tue 17-Mar-15 09:19:32

I smiled when I woke up this morning because yesterday my DD rang to say she and the GC are coming this weekend and we haven't seen them since October.Nearly ex SiL is also coming but has decided to stay with his brother, however he will come over and see us. We haven't seen him since December 2013 and since their decision to separate.

ginny Tue 17-Mar-15 09:05:10

I smiled today thinking of the conversation I had last evening with my 12 year old DGS about how to get a girlfriend.

J52 Tue 17-Mar-15 08:55:19

There's nothing like a new bathroom! All clean and shiney, with no watermarks! Hope all the fitting out goes well. x
