How do you write yours?

Poems, stories etc. I will suddenly get the odd phrase come into my mind whilst doing the most mundane of tasks. Inspiration just struck as I was halfway through cleaning the bathroom, heaven knows why, as I can see no connection between pouring Domestos down the loo and a single sentence about missing someone. confused

I then have to scurry off and write it down, always longhand and usually at the back of the pad I keep for shopping lists. The line or sentence will then be left alone there until I find a companion or two to join it smile.

Sometimes this will take weeks or months until I suddenly think of something to go with it, and even then it is not always in the right order, if you know what I mean. I might have the bare bones of the beginning and the end, but no middle, or just a few random words, a phrase of description, anything! (The old man and the cat poem was left in that state for ages)

I never plan to write things, unless it is a request for some daft verses for some event, but for me verse is very different from the odd poem that I may right.

I know there are a few of us scribblers out there, and was interested in how it happens for you.

(Bet it's not with your rubber gloves on and cleaning under the rim) grin
