Very sad news Bella. for you and DH

I've been dreading this day but my lovely, kind and caring sister-in-law passed away this morning at 7am. We had seen her yesterday and she actually seemed a bit better, smiling and telling us how much she loved us.
I know she is now at peace and her suffering is over, but it's still so hard to lose her. Poor DH has lost two of his sisters in the past four months but he is bearing up, bless him.

Thank you all for letting me share my troubles in the kitchen. You are so kind and supportive.

My pearls which consist of 3 pearls then one rosequartz bead repeated, which I wear doubled and twisted will go beautifully!

My Mother bought a lovely frock and lightweight matching blazer style jacket in Country Casuals for a cousin's wedding. Very pleased it was an outfit which could be worn not only for special ocassions and although she decided against a hat, would not have been seen without her pearls

You'll look glamorous and elegant Galen I'm sure. A QE cruise sounds an idyllic way to lead up to the wedding.

I remember the old Mae West lifejackets we used when I first started sailing. Today I'd look like Dick Emery in one!

I've a quite nice phase eight pink floral dress that would do. Unfortunately they don't do the blending jacket in my size! I'll just keep looking around.
Unfortunately I come back from a 16 day cruise on QE on the 15th so heaven knows what size I'll be?

Isn't it difficult when you buy a 'wedding outfit' and it sits languishing in a wardrobe afterwards? I now have 3 outfits that I hope will one day be worn again....... Two of mine are Jacques Vert, keep hoping I'll get invited somewhere where no one will have seen them before - forlorn hope to date!

numberplease I don't know if this would be helpful but there are books of phrases and useful pictures produced for people with aphasia, communication difficulties. The patient can use this to communicate By pointing and it is much quicker than writing. I'll try and post a link but I should think a speech therapist in your hospital would have something already. Try the stroke ward as well as aphasia often follows a stroke. Here's the link:

I like the sound of that wedding! I hate the sort where people bankrupt themselves - and everyone they know.

There were so many beggars in Winchester. It was dreadful, it was like walking through one of those rows of people waiting to flog you with wet towels. One young couple had a dog, and would beg for money to feed it. I bought tins of dog food from the pound shop just around the corner. Let's just say they were silent in their thanks.

I used to give one young man money when I first moved there, until it was gently pointed out to me that he had a council house and received benefits, he shared the house with several other beggars in Stanmore. I saw them returning home once with their shopping from the garage shop. I would love to be able to distinguish between the real and fake beggars.

My daughter said that the only ones she felt sorry for were the ones living in the hostel behind the library, who were only allowed back in in the evenings. She would buy them burgers and kebabs and chips at the end of her evenings out. As she says, we could end up like that one day, who knows.

Doesn't sounds as if it is going to be a new hat affair Galen so, something smart casual maybe although, whatever you decide, pearls an absolute must.

I too would have done what I could to help the teenager. A chat first then taken it from there but not just handing him money.

That's so lovely to have a wedding to look forward to - dress code life jackets I presume? Could be a very different kind of honeymoon too!
