Yes, mine is being a pain in the butt at the moment too, but reading all your posts puts it into perspective.

He often takes my car at the moment, as his refuses to start in cold weather. I was due to go to choir, he was late home, only just in time. As I was going out the door he said, 'By the way, it really needs petrol, you will have to get some on the way there or you won't make it back again'! I asked why he hadn't bought some on the way home - he said he had forgotten. Of course there were great long queues - it was a good job he was in bed asleep when I got home.

DH is definately unsettled at this time of year. I've set him a task to build a picnic boat in the back garden. That should channel any riding sap into productive channels and keep him fai fully occupied for the next couple of weeks.

Just grateful that apart from high BP, cholesterol, a generic predisposition to type 2 diabetes and increasing forgetfulness he is still reasonably fit and well. Reading these posts bring that home to me.

Annodomini - my OH put up shelves above youngest daughter's desk, which were to hold her university books. Later that day, down came the shelves, the books etc. Luckily youngest daughter wasn't hurt as they somehow missed her. There are a series of similar Disaster it Yourself incidents which I won't detail as he'd be easily identified by those who know (and love) him.

A parcel has arrived for DBH. It comes from a mask-making company - I googled them, and wished I hadn't, they make very realistic-looking masks! I would love to know what he is up to. I rather think it might be another school play.

Bella I was only thinking the other day, when your wee granddaughter was out of sorts...I hope that Mr Bella doesn't catch anything that his immune system cannot handle. I hope that he is being well cared for in hospital. Now that your ex son-in-law is visiting you will have some pleasant company, and hopefully a helping hand.

Sir Terry Pratchett has died...his cat was on his bed and his family were also with him.

It was a bit painful, soop, but thankfully those were the days before I took to wearing glasses. Imagine the mess that would have made.

At least Sir Terry Prachett is now free of his 'embuggerance' as he so eloquently put it, a genius whose writing will never grow old (he's written over 70 books, I believe)

My other half is in for a telling off when I get to the hospital tonight. Yesterday, eldest son rang from the hospital to say that the nurse had asked if I could bring in his electric shaver, as he`s having trouble shaving himself with the razor,(his preferred method), and won`t let the nurses do it anymore. Now he hasn`t used his electric one for over a year, because he says it makes his face sore, and I didn`t have a clue where to find it. I searched, but had to go to the hospital empty handed. Even though he couldn`t remember where he`d put it, he was annoyed, and said to go and buy him one, but wasn`t prepared to wait till I went to town on Saturday, so my daughter went home for her tea, came back for me, and we went to Asda for a shaver. It was 10.30pm when I got home again, then found I couldn`t charge it up because I didn`t have a 2 point plug thingy. Youngest son took it to the hospital this afternoon, they said they couldn`t charge it there, he got annoyed again, told Neil to go home and take it with him to charge. Talk about being unappreciative of people`s efforts!! I know he`s been very ill, but that`s a bit much! AND I`M MAD!!!!

He must be getting better; as a nurse we used to say that once they started getting cantankerous/argumentative/crochety then things were on the up. Little consolation for those running around after them though

Oh how I sympathise! They can be SO demanding and act as if you have nothing else to do but dance attendance. Been there, done that! To be fair, when you are ill and as poorly as your DH has been, you get a lot of attention and can become (no criticism) very egocentric. I have often come away from DH in Hospital and just wept at his impatience and intransigence. It is usually the nearest and dearest that gets the rough edge of the tongue too. You have earned these!

And it's probably the only element of his life he has any control over at the moment, no excuse though!

Thank you for the flowers, to tell the truth, I`m so tired lately that I feel like weeping. Will try to keep my chin up though, AND keep my temper!

I hope Terry P's death was as good as we can hope for. He's been a wonderful advocate for people living with Alz in recent years.

A very busy day here, with my two dogs and youngest d's 16 week old puppy. She's just been collected and it's a much calmer place now. Luckily, she has her owner's sunny personality, full of life but biddable so frankly, adorable.

He has been making films during IT lessons, and it's a prop so that a child can look like an adult, or he could wear it if they want him to be in their film, but not have to appear as himself. I must have a very suspicious nature!

Greetings from a perfect day in bonnie Kintyre. The weather is glorious. We've visited our pal in the care home. He had enjoyed a short trip, in a wheelchair, to the local shops. He has made a friend of the only other male in the same home. We had a chat with him. He likens his memory loss to being plucked from a familiar place and, in an instant, finding himself in a foreign land. How sad. Margaret, the lady who reminds me of my late Nana, had a smile on her face and we chatted for a wee while before lunch was served.

Soop and mcsporran I am so inspired by your visits to the care home, I am sure you are making ALL the difference in the world to the lives of the friend you visit and the "old" lady. I would so love to have visitors like you when my turn comes!!
I am popping in to share my birthday cake with you all (cunning, eh?) as I also have a Simnel cake for when the DDs and their menfolk are here on Sunday and the DGC will be going home after their 'sleepover' at Granny's . Please God the word "sleep" does feature in the weekend's activities

Numberplease I have PMd you as someone who has had DH in hospital for extended periods over the years. Trust me, as one who has " been there, done that" and please try to give yourself a break.

I remember when my oh was ill in hospital and how tired I got with all the stress. I had two young children and my demanding mother as well. There were times I could have grabbed a bedpan ( the old metal kind) preferably full and banged his head with it the emptied it over him.
