Hi Nonu, we do get where you're coming from but, as Elegran said, the 'I'm on' function should allow members to follow any threads they are taking part in.

As a couple of other posters have also mentioned, the number of alerts that would come through if we were to send emails every time someone posted on a thread would be overwhelming on really busy threads!

Elegran Tue 13-Jan-15 21:59:26

The "I'm on" topic is good for that. It lists the threads you have posted on, with the ones with the latest replies at the top. You can see who has posted since you - and the first line of what they said.

I have come across it on other sites, but they tend to have a much smaller membership with infrequent posts generally.

As has been said, some people's in-boxes would be bulging - and the replies wouldn't necessarily be in response to your post. How could GNHQ be expected to sort out who was replying to which poster?

Nonu Tue 13-Jan-15 21:53:25

It was just an idea , which I floated across you guys , I for one would like it, but the majority rules . No prob.GN haaaaave kept quiet so guess it is a NO_NO

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 13-Jan-15 21:50:53

Why haven't you put this on site stuff. They are more likely to read it then.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 13-Jan-15 21:49:48

I think they do that on Twitter. But it's not the same as a thread. Different nature altogether.

Nonu Tue 13-Jan-15 21:47:32

Not really so , I am on other forums and they just post replies, you subscribe or not . This surely cannot be beyond the capabilities of GNHQ ?

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 13-Jan-15 21:44:31

And I would already know that.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 13-Jan-15 21:44:05

And what about when someone posts several separate posts one after the other? Would that count as replies. I, for one, would often be replying to myself.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 13-Jan-15 21:42:38

It would be a huge task when a conversation really gets going. People's in-boxes would be bulging. grin

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 13-Jan-15 21:40:49

That's not the nature of forums. They're not message boards. Just follow the thread in general. Not just the bits you post.

Brendawymms Tue 13-Jan-15 21:35:34

Seems a reasonable idea if you could choose to be in or out for notifications.

Agus Tue 13-Jan-15 21:28:10

Or, I'm on?

rosesarered Tue 13-Jan-15 21:27:43

Nope, it doesn't ! I just looked at it.

rosesarered Tue 13-Jan-15 21:26:21

doesn't the 'watching ' thing do this?

Nonu Tue 13-Jan-15 21:13:13

Don"t know what others think but would it be an idea , if somehow we could be told when others reply to our posts ? I know it happens on other forums . I sometimes post and then go away, then miss replies am sure others must do the same .
Any thoughts ??
