Thanks for the suggestion. I have uploaded it. It was an unofficial recording, so I have given no indication of who, where or when - but you know it is my DD!

Nellie - she is not aiming for professional status - she is 40 years old and a busy mother of three. But she does do quite a lot of the solos with her choir; and she has just started to take singing exams, something she has not done before. She has also taken part in amateur opera.

Thank you all for your kind comments - I was pretty impressed by it too! Nellie - it is a top A.

When I saw your post last night, Mishap I was hoping you'd be able to put it on YouTube so we could all listen. You must be so proud of her. What a lovely voice and so suited to such a beautiful piece of music.

I hope this has given you a 'boost' and thank you for sharing it with us.

KatyK Sat 10-Jan-15 15:11:33

Lovely smile

Mishap That is lovely. How high is that very high note? Is she trying to do this professionally now and who does she sing with?

We get a lot of different, usually professional, soloists with our choral society! (It helps living near the Royal Northern C.M)

These talented young singers seem to spend a lot of time travelling around to pick up these "jobs" and gain experience for their CVs.
It cannot be an easy way of earning a living.

Than you for sending us that link. It's no good at all having a talented child and hiding her talent under a bushel so to speak.

Do you have any more of her stuff?

Mishap Sat 10-Jan-15 14:38:22

Singing has been my life and it means more than I can say that one of my DDs has blossomed in that direction. Even when my children were small I kept up my singing, and DD's husband (who knows nothing about and cares less about singing) has always made it possible for her to pursue her singing - we thanked him for that in my OH's father of the bride speech when they eventually married. I will always be grateful for that.

Listening to her makes me tingle - it is such a joy for us.
