Why did you choose your username?

mrsmopp Tue 30-Dec-14 17:38:11

I chose mrsmopp because i have a mop of thick, naturally curly hair which has a will of its own.
Not because my occupation was a cleaning lady, as in: "Can I do you now, sir?" That wasn't me!

joannapiano Tue 30-Dec-14 20:33:11

I can play the old joanna, (badly). I grew up with tunes like Knees up Mother Brown sung by my loud Cockney family, and Dad on the piano.

Ariadne Tue 30-Dec-14 20:20:47

Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos of Crete in Greek mythology, and associated with mazes and, of course, the labyrinth, from which she rescued Theseus. (I studied Classics as well as English.)

So, in essence, a woman who helped a man get out of a mess.....

Some of your user names are great. Mine is boring. I just put it when i joined, I should have given it more thought.

Pittcity Tue 30-Dec-14 20:15:10

We are the Pitts and our house is similar to Piccadilly Circus!
Have had this username for all occasions over many years, not exclusive to GN.

AlieOxon Tue 30-Dec-14 19:44:17

I was Oxon70....only after a bit I wasn't 70 any more.....

absent Tue 30-Dec-14 19:41:26

I started out as absentgrana because I lived on the opposite side of the world from my grandchildren. This became shortened to absent and, although I have now emigrated to New Zealand, I have stayed with absent in spite of being present, as it were.

Gagagran Tue 30-Dec-14 19:36:50

Because my dear old Mum used to say "I'm going gaga" when she forgot something so it's in memory of her really. And I am a Gran!

ginny Tue 30-Dec-14 19:18:53

The family nick name for me when I was small.

Agus Tue 30-Dec-14 19:18:35

One half of my family are Gaelic speakers and agus (and) was the fist Gaelic word I taught DDs and GDs

There have been a few ocassions when I have been addressed as Angus on GN, even spellcheck insists I mean Angus grin

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 30-Dec-14 19:15:28

i think it chose me really. I can't remember how or why.

Greyduster Tue 30-Dec-14 19:13:02

Because I'm grey and I hate dusting! No, actually, it's the name of my favourite fishing fly!

NfkDumpling Tue 30-Dec-14 19:10:05

Because I'm rotund and come from Norfolk where we eat dumplings - also know as Norfolk Swimmers.

loopylou Tue 30-Dec-14 18:57:54

That's brilliant crun! Still reeling from your Christmas tree photo......

crun Tue 30-Dec-14 18:55:53

One of the Goons:

"An elderly idiot and partner of Minnie Bannister, Henry Crun often struggles to keep up with the action around him whilst squabbling with Minnie."

"Henry Crun, crumbling, fumbling, very old man. But he takes Elderly Gentlemen's Get Fit hormones and is the nearly lusty paramour of Minnie Bannister."

Marelli Tue 30-Dec-14 18:55:36

The first syllables of all of my 3 children's names.

henetha Tue 30-Dec-14 18:55:23

I grew up with hens in the garden always, and have long been called chick or hen... cluck!

hildajenniJ Tue 30-Dec-14 18:54:02

Mine,s very boring. I couldn't think of a good name, so just used the first part of my email address.

chloe1984 Tue 30-Dec-14 18:37:27

Because I always wanted to have a 'cool' name instead of the pretty awful one chosen by my parents.

Juliette Tue 30-Dec-14 18:24:27

I had to Google it too! 'Every day's a school day'. Mine is because DH and I had just watched 'Gnomeo and Juliette' recorded it on New Years Day 2014.

kittylester Tue 30-Dec-14 18:17:06

A short lived family nickname and (almost) where I live!

Charleygirl Tue 30-Dec-14 18:11:19

My last cat was called Charley and I added girl to ensure that everybody knew that I was female.

My father's nickname for me

Galen Tue 30-Dec-14 18:09:40
