Not sure if anyone remembers me having a moan about waiting in all day for an N Power engineer to do a safety check on my meter who never came [I phoned them at least once to ask why no one had come]. Anyways, I've just had an email threatening me with a £150 fine because I 'haven't arranged a safety check on my meter'. Someone had been out and checked it prior to the other arranged visit but they said it hadn't reached their system so to let the second appointment stand. I've demanded a letter stating that a]my meter has been checked and b] an apology for threatening me with a fine on top of wasting a whole day waiting for an appointment that never materialised. Is it any wonder that our utility bills are so expensive when they spend time and money doing this sort of thing? I'm afraid they chose the wrong day to do this angryangryangry.

I waited in all day for British Gas to come and give my boiler its annual check-up and no one came. When I tried to phone an automated voice told me the help line was not operating as they were too busy with call-outs...hmm

So I know how your feel! angry

We ordered some wine from Tesco, to be delivered on a certain day 'between 7 am and 7pm'. When it hadn't arrived by 7pm, I telephoned them and was told it was 'out of stock'!!! I said 'at what point were you going to let me know? You have my money.' Lots of wines were shown as out of stock on the site but not this one and they accepted my order and money. 'Sorry' they said. It then took them 5 days to refund my money, although they did give me an extra £10 for my inconvenience.

I've found the original email telling me not to forget that they were coming between 10-12. When [if] I get my apology I'm going to send it to them.

Just to say that they're sending me a cheque for £20 as an apology and a contact address if I want to complain further, which I may well do. So it's worth contacting your energy company if they do mess you around.
