Where's our Saltire?

How come the best GN can do for St Andrew's Day is an array of cartoon caricatures? I don't recall cartoons of English football louts or Welsh sheep-chasers, or any of Irishmen clutching a pint of Guinness in each hand. Saltires and thistles are much easier to design, too. You can do better than this, tech.

Spent St. Andrew's day lying in bed with a horrid virus. So disappointed as we were planning to have a family lunch followed by a walk along the glorious Caladonian Canal. Weather was bright and sunny, I really spoilt our little St Andrews celebration. Hope my fellow scots had a nice day.

Stop b****y going on about the whinging Scots. It stopped being funny long ago. At least they set to and tried to find out exactly what everyone wanted to do about their future instead of just sniping at each other. Now that the question has been settled, let's please get on with our EQUAL lives.

I repeat - there were flags and symbols for the English and Welsh, and fossilised cartoons for the Scots. I am not one of the Scots who wanted to leave the Union, in fact I was not even born a Scot, but this annoys me.

I agree that if GNHQ acknowledge St George's Day and St David's Day with emoticons of the flags associated with them, then a saltire emoticon should be available on St Andrew's Day. Has anyone contacted HQ directly about this? There don't appear to be any green entries on this thread.

Re the complaint about the emoticons in a Scotch bonnet... um, xmas is acknowledged with a bonnet too. I don't think it's meant to be insulting.

Done. The Christmas ones are of an ?elf? in Santa hat, not a stage Scotsman with a red wig and a Harry Lauder bunnet, probably bandy legs too if you could see them. Out-of-date half a century ago at least.

Even with the Christmas ones, I would have thought that a little bit more effort would produce a sprig of holly or a snowflake. If they send me instructions how to upload an emoticon in the appropriate format I would have a go myself.

It's not a Harry Lauder bunnet, it's a Tam O'Shanter bunnet—a tammie with a toorie on the top.

Scotch bonnet - isn't that a very hot chilli (Jamie Oliver recommended wiping one over your child's apple to teach them a lesson instead of using the naughty step! )
