Charge car battery. Got a text from DH after he'd set off for work asking me to do this cos he'd not removed key from ignition and therefore prob not switched off properly. Because he's done this before (sigh!) we now have a charger thingy.

Task one: find out how to open bonnet

It's going to be one of those days hmm

Red is positive + and black is negative -. If you get them the wrong way around it can blow the alternator so I think you're right, it's much better to leave it for BB when he gets home tonight!

On the subject of men and car keys, Mr P once went off carefully locking the front door behind him, with BOTH sets of keys in his pocket, meaning that I was locked in the house! shock

That Bags here's how to do it, tell the silly man to think what he is doing next time. Go indoors, put the heating on, treat yourself self to hot cup of whatever you fancy and plenty of cake put your feet up. Then let the silly beggar who caused the problem in the first place sort it out.

I would have called the AA at 9.18 am. Whenever DH says the battery is flat and he is going to charge it I've usually called the AA before he has plugged the charger in because they have a much more powerful set of whatever it is they use . This is an annual event chez nous.
