I have just recently discovered this site and love the variety of subjects on the forums. I am a 62 year old granny and my OH and I are both retired. I am sure that many other gransnetters wonder how they ever found time to work - my days are taken up with gardening, studying (to keep the brain active), reading, walking, bird watching and visiting the GCs. I look forward to joining in the various conversations. smile

I'm a bird too! I'm not sure why! Welcome anyway!

Being a bit of an amateur twitcher, I love your name, lapwing. I'm a sort of a bird myself.
A warm welcome to Gransnet.

hello and welcome from me too, Lapwing. We have lapwings come every winter to our harbour - a wonderful sight.
Be prepared to have a new addiction now you have discovered Gransnet. Lots to browse and join in whenever you fancy.

I love Lapwings, one of my favourite birds. We get lots of them around here, but once in Kent I saw a vast watermeadow smothered in them.

Deedaa Sat 15-Nov-14 23:20:00

Hello Lapwing You are lucky to have lapwings around, I haven't seen more than one or two for years now. We do have quite a lot of Buzzards and Red Kites though.

Hello, Lapwing, Hilda and Geraldine! Lovely when new members introduce themselves. Welcome - enjoy GN as much as I do. I honestly can't imagine life without it.

You are always welcome in Granddads shed, all we ask is that you bring some home baked cupcake, we can supply the brew.

We discuss all sorts of stuff and are interested in bird watching. grin

Lapwing Sat 15-Nov-14 16:59:33

Thank you for the lovely welcome and the flowers - I hope to meet you all in soop's kitchen sometime - some of the hard stuff would be nice on a cold winters day!!

Definitely not brilliant Galen and as for housework kittylester it gets done when there is nothing better on offer. grin

rosequartz and ffinnochio lapwings are my favourite birds and there is a field near me where they gather on a regular basis - they really are such attractive birds.

Hi Lapwing. Nice name & a lovely bird. I've seen a few small migrating flocks here in the past couple of week searching the warmer climes.

Hello Lapwing (is that a bird ref?) and HildajenniJ, Welcome flowers flowers
I am still relatively new myself, here in Manchester and I believe in gransnet so much I applied to be a local editor, and here I am still learning the ropes, any hints and tips for getting local people connected on Gransnet will be most welcome from all you GN editors and gransnetters!

I just seem to spend a lot of time reading there is so much to keep me interested!
Happy Saturday everyone smile
