Slainte to all my Granspals. Settle down and relax. The bubbly is nicely chilled. wine

soop Fri 14-Nov-14 16:44:14

Darlingest girls...goodness gracious me...so much news for me to catch up with.

Kitty Together with all the rest of us lot big, warm, cuddly hugs galore. I'm truly sorry that you have had a roller coaster of a week. It does help to share, I agree. That is why we have the comfort of our kitchen. flowers

Soutra The test revealed that there is no genetic abnormality. What a blessed relief. I have been thinking of your daughter and know exactly how she feels right now. I wish her well. sunshine

dusty knowing why one should not do certain things that may trigger a muscle spasm is only part of the problem. I hope that you have suitable medication and that, with the right manipulation, movement can be restored ASAP. smile

kittylester Fri 14-Nov-14 16:07:18

I do Galen Thanks for the hug! Glum is really expressive (my phone has a melt down if I try to use the correct word!)

Soutra Fri 14-Nov-14 16:02:39

PS silly spellchecker on DH's pooter rendered chromosome as "chrome" - not my typo this time!

Soutra Fri 14-Nov-14 16:01:33

I hope that once they have got over (if you ever do) their grief at losing this baby they will now feel able to contemplate the risk again, while if the tests had come back otherwise, it would have been very hard to contemplate wouldn't it? I think DD has been especially 'down' waiting for these results and worrying about them so perhaps they will be able to move forward in a little while. smile

Galen Fri 14-Nov-14 16:00:36

That is good news Soutra and Kitty {{hugs}} from me as well.
I agree glum is a great word. Anyone remember 'Eth' 'yesRon?'

kittylester Fri 14-Nov-14 15:57:34

That's really good news Soutra. You all must be relieved!

Soutra Fri 14-Nov-14 15:36:08

The good (well sort of) news is that DD has had the results of the chrome testing and there is no genetic reason for her baby's abnormality - just a statistic sad but a huge relief as the odds of it happening again are not significantly worse now.

kittylester Fri 14-Nov-14 14:30:43

Thank you all - you are really kind. Writing it down does help doesn't it? And, then you all reply with lovely hugs. flowers

I forgot to mention that the DGC have rotten colds and guess what.............! Which is probably why I'm feeling glum! ( Isn't 'glum' a great word!! grin) I was bewildered by why I felt so down when we had some lovely bright spots too.

Sorry you were left in the lurch Tegan. brew

Anyway, my sorrows are nothing compared to those some of you are bearing so (((hugs))) from me to all who need them!

Tegan Fri 14-Nov-14 13:24:36

Just waited in all morning for someone to come from NPower to read and check my gas meter. It has already been checked and read but the information doesn't seem to have reached them [it can take some time, they say; this was a month ago] so they told me to keep the existing appointment. No one has turned up. I phoned them and they said that perhaps there had been an emergency but what emergency can a gas meter reader have? And had another call from someone who this time encompassed everything; double glazing, boiler, energy price comparison [I stopped him at that point]. Feel bad about feeling so grumpy about this when some of you are having such a horrid time.

dustyangel Fri 14-Nov-14 13:21:50

Kitty I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew. Stay in the kitchen and be cosseted.

Lona Coffee and brandy sounds good to me. Only thing is I haven't felt like eating, (which does me no harm at all) so I'd better go and have some breakfast/lunch first.

Bellasnana Fri 14-Nov-14 13:10:08

kitty (((hugs))) and commiserations from me too.flowers

baubles Fri 14-Nov-14 11:49:13

Ah Kitty what a week! Another hug from me.

granjura Fri 14-Nov-14 11:48:24

Been looking for this thread- and wondered why it had disappeared. Glad you've got an appointment for Tuesday and all fingers crossed.

So many people having a hard time- Argghhh Kitty, a huge hug from me too.

Off for emergency visit to Surrey for 2 weeks to look after grandkids. Wonderful, apart that I'm just getting over a filthy cold, and OH has got it too and just getting a bit better. Timing, hey! Perhaps that will mean that for once we won't come back with a bad cold. Can only hope.

They all be coming here for Christmas, and DD2 too- so will just have time to return and begin the countdown.

Agus Fri 14-Nov-14 11:10:47

kitty what an emotional roller coaster you have been on this week. Sometimes it all becomes just too much so come into the, kitchen where your Granspals insist you sit down and put your feet up and look after yourself for a while. ((((Hugs))))

annodomini Fri 14-Nov-14 10:47:52

kitty - multiple ((((hugs)))) for you. You need brew or better still wine.

Lona Fri 14-Nov-14 10:35:45

kitty So sorry I missed your post then, it's horrible when so much is going on and you are up and down, over and over again!
It's very draining (believe me, I know too).
Here's a big (((hug))) and some coffee and a nip.
Hope things buck up soon.

Soutra Fri 14-Nov-14 10:28:08

Oh poor kl you have had a bad week and every sympathy re your DN. That is so sad. Not a lot one can sqy except to send a {hug} and wish you "bon courage" for what is to come. flowers x

annsixty Fri 14-Nov-14 10:16:25

Please Lona I will have dark rum in mine, for no other reason than I like rum in coffee. Good wishes to all feeling low.

Lona Fri 14-Nov-14 10:00:35

dusty That sounds painful and difficult too. Hope you're up and about soon flowers

I think coffee with a nip of brandy (other spirits are available) is called for.
Kettle's on..................

kittylester Fri 14-Nov-14 09:59:09

I recommend the Bling thread soop - it's not really about Christmas!

I hope everyone is feeling ok and sadnesses and aches and pains are easing. flowers

Is it possible for me to have a big hug please? I'm not depressed like Mishap and galen on the Depression thread, but I have had a very peculiar week and feel quite down. My week to date:

Monday - we were told that Mum's home is on 'lock down' as they have D & V. That's fine as I don't like going but it could become a habit! Rambling phone message left by my exSil.

Tuesday - DN had a custody hearing and no conclusion was reached so she still can't see her youngest son and the two older ones are not speaking to her. Another rambling message from ExSil re the Custody hearing. But, I did see my friend for coffee and offloaded onto her.

Wednesday - we were told that a nephew (who has bowel, liver and now kidney cancer) is nearing the end of his life. He's 47. But we had been out for lunch with DH's friends and off loaded on them.

Yesterday - Spent fielding phone calls from DN, her mother (exSil) and lovely Sil, whose son is dying and is obviously in bits.

All week, the Idiot is living up to his name and being extremely Idiotic. Dh is working too hard. My 2 lovely sons in law have both got good new jobs.

The Fair is in town and we have been invited to go with all three DDs and 6 DGC- I love the concept of the Street Fair but hate the actuality.

It's been a week of highs and lows and it has left me feeling really low!

Thank you for listening to me - feel a bit better now!

Agus Thu 13-Nov-14 22:45:08

Uh, uh, Crafting stop trying to drop me in it. grin It was a very funny thread though

Crafting Thu 13-Nov-14 21:20:20

Bella so glad to hear things are looking up for you. Hope you have a lovely time tonight.

dustyangel hope you manage to get some sleep and your back is easier tomorrow.

Soop glad to hear MacS had got his appointment. Hope all goes well on Tuesday.

Agus you should tell Soop about where you put your Christmas bling. After all, it's not like you to hide your light under a bushel! grin.

dustyangel Thu 13-Nov-14 18:36:07

Thanks all for your good wishes. I'm back with the icepack on again and strict instructions to only sit for 20 mins at a time while icing and the rest of the time lie flat. It is an acute injury (I could have told him that) and I've got to go back on Tuesday by which time he hopes I will be able to move more easily. Not a disc out just severe muscle spasm.
soop I slipped a disc badly when I was 18 and have had trouble off and on ever since. If I use common sense and am reasonably careful I don't get a lot of trouble with it now.
Lona grin This chap hasn't got a bedside manner. He has got a lovely French Canadian accent though.
The one I see in England is completely different. From the west coast of Canada and very laid back and outgoing. He always make me laugh so much that I hardly notice his manipulations.

annodomini Thu 13-Nov-14 18:14:42

Well steamed, soop. I will be away for Christmas with the family so it's up to them how much bling they want to indulge in. When my visitors come for New Year, they will find my very small but quite convincing artificial tree and not much more. Not that it matters.

Galen Thu 13-Nov-14 18:10:40

Glad to hear that Bella.
Soop hopefully they'll sort the old Sporron out now!
