What jobs do you put off doing?

Kiora - You have got it wrong ! You must get all those jobs done BEFORE you retire because you won't have time after. You will be so busy enjoying yourself that the jobs which you dislike now will be so far down the list they will never get done. Well that is my excuse !

I absolutely hate defrosting the freezer and leave it until it looks like the Titanic iceberg!!

Anything which comes under the heading of 'housework'. Hate all of it!

Emptying the tumble drier and then folding it urghhhh, especially when its babygrows, little vest socks etc you wouldnt imagine how many items there are in one load and always an odd sock.

Ironing and paperwork - Agus, we seem to be twin souls!

Only cleaning the oven everything else gets done

I have an excuse for not cleaning the oven, I can`t get down low enough to do it!

NO me too going to buy a new one next year that should last me out till the next house move.

Since I retired, I've found my antipathy to putting air in the tyres has slowly disappeared.

The new oven is allegedly self cleaning, so I haven't touched it. The fridge freezer is allegedly self de-frosting. It isn't, and the chap who came to repair it 2 years ago told me to de-frost annually thus preventing a build up of ice inside the fridge bit. I did it about a year ago, and am currently finding all manner of reasons to prevent me doing it again.

Welcome granjo. You were nearly there with the smiley, you need to use square brackets [ ]. It is lovely to be lazy without any guilt isn't it?

I avoid most of the above, especially defrosting the freezer. I can hardly close the b....y door now which of couse makes the problem worse. I'm just amazed OH hasn't commented on it... maybe he knows it's more than his life's worthI do like cooking and since |'ve been retired I quite like ironing (got the time now) and there is something quite satisfying about a pile of clean, pressed clothes ready to be put away. (God I sound so sad!)

We're having a new front door put in next week, which will involve a lot of demolition and re-building... aka - dust everywhere. But I've heard if you leave dust to settle for a fortnight it doesn't get any worse. Think I moght try that.

I hate ironing. It makes me think dark thoughts. When I was working I used an ironing service (trickle down economy so no guilt), but now have to do it myself, although there is not so much. I wait until the basket is overflowing though, then hate myself even more.

Ironing for me too. Unfortunately I've put mine off for such a long time I have a HUGE pile to do and we've got visitors this weekend so I can't leave it any longer or they won't be able to get in the front door!

I hate the thought of ironing but sadly quite enjoy it once I've started, especially in front of something that DH won't watch on iPlayer or similar. I really hate paperwork AND making business telephone calls. As DH has aphasia and cannot write or understand much in a telephone call, all of this stuff falls to me. So he then nags me to get it done, or complains about what I've said which fuels my resentment at having to do it all anyway.

It wouldn't be so bad if once the work was done that was it for a few months, but it is the repetition that drives me to distraction.

That's why I like cleaning someone elses house [I'm thinking of the S.O.'s holiday flat here]. Because you clean it, shut the door and walk away and don't have to see all your hard work disintegrate. My house is getting old and tired [like me] and really needs a complete overhaul that I don't have the money for. I think when you have new carpets and furniture, bath fittings etc they take longer to look dirty [don't know why].

Hate all of it but hate untidiness even more so force myself to do it - with numerous stops if I can create a tactical diversion. Try to work on a reward system of treats if I achieve my target! OH has taken over cooking thank goodness. Ironing has been going out for years.....hate it with a vengeance.

Yes I had 'Jane is easily distracted' on my school report. Anything is better than housework, I think I'm the queen of procrastination, I find anything to do rather than what I'm supposed to be doing!

I had to write an essay on daydreaming at school because the teacher noticed me, yet again gazing out of the window . Pooters are the worst thing ever [or best, depending on how you look at it] for procrastinators.

All of 'em at the moment.

I just put off getting my email working again....it took half an hour on the phone to BT in the end...a very patient man....got 128 emails mostly rubbish....at least it was free!
But I am still not using BT email, too many ads. Thunderbird is better!

What got me going? I phoned my friend M, and she told me firmly to get on with it as soon as I put down the phone - so I did.
