Gratitude to Grans

It is a year since DH died. I have been thinking this morning how grateful I am to gransnet for helping to get me through this last year. Thank you for your posts which have made me laugh, made me cry and made me think. They have kept me connected to the outside world at a time when all I wanted to do was hibernate. Particular thanks to Mick for the Good Morning thread. I initially found waking up alone very difficult and being able to read those posts made me feel that other people were there, that I was not totally alone. Thank you also especially to Anno who met me on a day when I was completely frantic with househunting and had coffee with me which was a very calming influence. Thanks also to all of you who sent private messages and posts immediately after DH died. Some family and friends have been wonderful others have vanished completely from my life. The vanishers are not the people I would have expected to take that role . Also unexpected is that new friends have come into my life.

sewsilver flowers I can understand you must be feeling sad today.

I hope you have found somewhere to live where you can feel settled. That an awful lot of upheaval and stress for one year.

I agree totally about how good GN is as a source of support when someone is experiencing a rough time, or just needs to talk through a dilemma rather than bottling up worries.

The virtual hugs and kindness really helps.

Take care of yourself.

sewsilver, it doesn't seem a year and I know how much you have accomplished in that short time. You are such a courageous and, in spite of everything, life-affirming person - it's always a pleasure to meet up with you and we must do it again sometime soon. flowers

sewsilver I do hope life is settling down for you now. You made me realise how this site can be more than just fun but provide real support and help. Best wishes flowers

flowers sewsilver you've made great strides and faced all your troubles bravely. I know what you mean about 'vanishers" I have had 4 recent bereavements. Two of very close much loved and greatly missed relatives. What has upset me most is the people whom I've supported for many many years completely abandoned me,or at least that's how it's felt. It made a painful situation even more painful. I think maybe we need another thread for just this topic. I'm glad that new friends have helped you through this difficult year. I hope you continue to move forward and share your ups and downs with us here.

A poignant anniversary Sewsilver. Sending warm wishes for the next stage in your life and greetings for the next meet up which is far too far for me to travel to. It's good to know that you have made GN friends - they are a lovely bunch.
