Have practice runs with something innocuous and nice-smelling so that she is not being asked to inhale only when she is already panicky?

She won't have it anywhere near her

Even chocolate and dinasaurs didn't work

Could everyone in the family 'pretend' to use one every so often so she feels left out if she doesn't? Is there another child of her age that uses one that she could meet up with? Was it used with the spacer device thingy and could that have been what scared her?

Try a Nurses outfit and bag from Toys R Us,and put an empty inhaler in with the bits & bobs it comes with,leave her to play and make a game of it,maybe take a few days but she will "play" with it in the end through just sheer inquisition and go from there and if she has to have hospital treatment again take the play stuff with you,worth a try.

I already use one and she's seen me use it! Made no differences!

The only things that I found to work were the promises of a special treat, sweetie or play a favourite game/read favourite book.

Play a game of, shots each, drawing in a breath quickly whilst using the mask and count how long everyone can hold it.

Good luck Galen. A very frustrating experience when it is something you know has to be done and you don't want to upset you GD in the process either.

GS has jolly little spacer with cartoon figures on it. I had to buy it, around£8 from Boots. So much less frightening than giant Coke bottle spacer my eldest DS had in the seventies.
So scary when they won't cooperate though. Hope you find a solution soon.
