Thank you, Gaga. You lot are so kind. I am chuffed with the jacket. The tartan shoes and bag are made of silk taffeta and they are in the same stained-glass colours. The skirt is a beautiful black lace...just below the knee. I shall maybe need a simple camisole under the jacket. I hope to find a neat, chic, unfussy small hat to complete the look. I rather fancy a pill-box design...similar to those that Jackie O wore. Anyway, I shall keep you well informed.

Was very nosy and had a look. Well done Soop it is amazing! Have never had much luck on EBay. Sold a solid wood dining table and chairs last year which went for £50.01. Ie 1p over the reserve. Well at least it made somebody happy and saved us the bother of taking it elsewhere.

I shall try to upload the image from eBay. Somehow doubt that I shall manage to do so. However...who knows. If I'm unable to do so, I shall photograph said item when it arrives. The very pleasant seller has already parcelled it ready for the journey to Kintyre.

Have any of my Granspals secured an eBay bargain? I would love to know. It's great fun, providing one doesn't get carried away. MacS sold his childhood collection of Dinky toys [three years or so ago] and raised just over £600...of which he gave me half. Bless!

Tenterhooks were fragile hooks on which weavers of old hung woollen and linen fabrics to dry. Although they were fragile they needed to be reliable and not permit said fabric to collapse in an untidy heap on the ground.

jamsidedown and when ...Ta dah! Let's celebrate with carrot cake and coffee. I "won" said jacket. I left my offer until just 10 seconds before the close of play. It is a vintage David Butler Military-style jacket in a beautiful fabric with satin reveres, two satin buttons on the sleeve and unusual front fastening. Perfect condition and very costly when new. I paid the princely sum of £25.50 for it and the postage is free. I shall photograph it when it arrives. What I like is that it is a "one off", I've certainly never seen another like it. I shall attempt to discover the meaning of "on tenterhooks". I shall Google it.

It is a funny sort of day - sunny one moment and hammering down with rain the next. We managed a walk through the village during which we stopped to blether with seven friendly local Scots. We were invited into one ladies house to view the outfit that she will be wearing for her grandson's wedding in a fortnight's time. She will look lovely.

Not good enough, especially for a Kitchener...did you mention how important a person you and the likes of us lot are? I trust that you will now rest and recover. It is good to have you back with us.

Bellasnana To go out for quiet dinner would be a pleasant treat for you and your husband. I'm happy that your granddaughter appears to be keeping you busy. There is nothing quite like a boisterous wee one to put some colour in your cheeks and a sparkle into your day. When we saw Torben, we gave him a small wooden birdhouse complete with special paints...a sort of "paint your own garden feeder". My son says that he's making a decent job of decorating it. I look forward to seeing a photo.

moomin and jamsidedown I am determined to "win" the jacket. From 8.30 on I shall be all of a dither. It is such a good price for a most elegant garment. Well, it will be, providing a whole queue of eBayers don't happen to be lurking in the shadows ready jump out with lots of dosh at the very last minute. I'm back from a rather disappointing cruise. The ship was NOT DISABLED FRIENDLY. The food was poor and most of the staff seemed very unfriendly, shan't use P&O again!

Fingers crossed for the jacket soop. I also try to time my bid for the last ten seconds, which is fine as long as some dastardly person hasn't put in an automatic bid. I always think if only I had bid 25p more, but that's not the point is it? Must have a limit and stick to it - and not feel down in the dumps if I lose .

Hello my darlings. Guess why it is that I am late? Yep! I have, I believe, found the perfect wee jacket [vintage] to go with the lace skirt, tartan silk shoes and wee silk purse. All I have to do is sit tight until nine o'clock this evening when I shall [with just 11 seconds to spare] place my winning bid. Should I "win" the jacket, I shall take a photo when it arrives. The "stain glass" colours in the fabric are stunning. So...if I win it, I then think that I know which hat I shall possibly bid on. Lona the hat will not be a grand hat [as was son's wedding hat] but a chic pillbox with a taffeta trim...no feathers or glitzy bits and bobs. I have shown MacS a picture of the jacket. He nodded his approval.

As for all this home baked cake and such that has found it's way into our kitchen I have, since going to the family gathering, eaten many delicious foods that I usually try my hardest to ignore. I have also been extremely lazy and, apart from our walk in the mornings, I haven't mounted, let alone ridden, the exercise bike It appears that I too am a member of the spare-tyre club!
