Hello and a warm welcome to you lovely lot. I'm about to brew a fresh pot of tea and there are plenty of goodies for us to munch on...grin

Bellasnana Tue 14-Oct-14 12:47:41

Good afternoon everyone. Sorry I haven't been in to thank you for your kind thoughts and hugs, but here I am with thanks and flowers to you all.

DH should have gone in today for his last chemo session, but his blood count was too low so he is to wait another week. He is feeling ok and can't sit still.

We have the local tv station coming to film our house on Saturday so DD2 is helping me clear the decks of everything personal. It's a big job and illustrates what an awful housekeeper I am, judging by the piles of dust that are appearing blush
I can't be bothered with it but we are trying to sell and have been told it will be 'good exposure' to have it on this house-hunting programme.hmm

Next week I am off to Kent to visit my darling sister for a few days! Can't wait. She is feeling much better now the effects of her radiotherapy have worn off, and her oncologist is pleased with her last scan result which show things are stable for now smile

Hope all you poorly kitcheners will soon be feeling better. It's still very hot here so hard to imagine the cold.

(((Hugs))) , cupcake brew flowers

Galen Tue 14-Oct-14 12:23:03

Actually after a lot of threats to call councillors etc they did fill the other half, but really!

Galen Tue 14-Oct-14 12:21:50

Don't talk to me about potholes. Yesterday the men came with a massive machine to resurface the road along the bottom of my garden. The road that leads to it had a massive pothole that was half in each road.
Guess what?
Correct. They only filled half of the hole as they were only contracted to do the one road not the other!angry

soop Tue 14-Oct-14 11:49:39

Let me also begin the day with (((hugs))) for our dear Bella.

At this time on a Tuesday I'm usually doing my pal's ironing. A change of plan means that I shall be dashing away with the smoothing iron this afternoon. At the same time I shall be keeping five Pomeranian dogs company, two of which are very elderly. From the moment I arrive it will be yap yap yap...as it's a glorious sunny day, they will be urged to play in the garden. wink

AlieO at twenty years of age your cat is entitled to sleep more than usual. It's also true that the appetite decreases with age. As long as she appears to be contented, then there isn't anything more that you can do...smile

Teetime My hair is naturally curly and Although I have a lot of it, it's extremely fine. I am allowing my grey to take over. It's looking okay and it's a lot less costly! I like Alexi's hair. I'm sure that you will find it easier to manage, especially when the weather worsens.

jollyg We may well need to make further trips to Oban. However, MacS is extremely independent and, unless he was on his last legs, he would insist on driving. We are hoping to hear the result of the latest procedure sometime soon-ish.

Galen Spoil sport!!! grin

Charleygirl and kitty Our car, like many others on the peninsula, suffers greatly from the bad pot-holes that the highways dept bravely attempts to keep under control. As the road to Campbeltown is the main thoroughfare, all manner of heavy lorries (some bearing massive turbine parts and others transporting logs from the forestry commission) mess up the road surface. With the onset of winter the problem worsens.

anno are the antibiotics helping to deaden the pain? I hope so. Sinusitis is one of the worst nagging pains to have to endure.

kittylester Tue 14-Oct-14 09:57:07

Morning all!

It's perishing, howling a gale and pickling down here so I too have come for a warm by the aga!

DD had a wedding consultation yesterday so made loads of samples for tasting. I stole some and will leave them on the table. Apparently, the fruit cake is lovely! Enjoy. cupcake

Shall we pass the hat round Soop for the car! It's only fair as you let us use your fabulous kitchen. sunshine

Hope the sinuses are responding well anno - you have my deepest sympathy. Every time Dh gets a cold, I get sinusitis. It's to do with my bone structure apparently, which is why he fancied me, bet he didn't bank on the moaning when I get sinusitis! grin

(((Hugs))) to anyone feeling the need, especially Bella. flowers

Charleygirl Tue 14-Oct-14 09:22:38

I agree, that is not good news about the car soop. Rory will be happy if MacS is at home more.

I do hope that Bella is okay, but she does have a lot on her plate at present.

Teetime Tue 14-Oct-14 09:15:17

Me again - any coffee going- now its clear I have a cold and its pouring so I'm staying here by the Aga- DH has gone to Bowls for the day (popping back for lunch lucky me!) and then back out this afternoon. I have given in to the inevitable and had my har styled curly yesterday. I am very very curly - think Alexis Poleski (sorry proably the wrong spelling) any way and I try to straighten it and get very frustrated when I step outside and its curly again so I'm trying it curly. was considering letting it go grey but once step at a time we wil try curly first. So I had it coloured brunette which is my natural but with some warm reddishness so we will see. Sorry about the car soop hope its not too expensive. anno are your sinuses any easier today?
Love to all - keep warm and dry smile

AlieOxon Mon 13-Oct-14 18:14:20

Cat is eating today. But she is 20 and doesn't do much but sleep these days.

Agus Mon 13-Oct-14 16:18:06

Anno. Sorry to hear you are suffering with sinus trouble. I had it a few years ago and my Dentist recommended what he used, a Homeopathy remedy called Kali Bich. It was extremely effective and later worked for DD too.

Hope your cat is OK Alie

jollyg Mon 13-Oct-14 16:17:06

SOOP hope you have no more plans to vist OBAN, surely NHS will send an ambulance to pick up.

Galen Mon 13-Oct-14 16:00:01

I am NOT repeat NOT making wine!

soop Mon 13-Oct-14 15:40:06

Galen Get treading! wink

MacS has had a chat with the garage man. Not the news that he wishes to hear...car will not pass the MOT. He's to pick it up this afternoon and return it within a week or so when the spare part will be available. It should then pass the MOT at end of the month. He's waiting outside for the bus to Campbeltown. Rory is not amused. He's most unsettled and if he could huff and tut, he would surely do so. wink

I feel a strange urge to polish the furniture. I cannot blame Galen's unmade wine for my funny turn...so... confused

Galen Mon 13-Oct-14 12:33:24

Help. Gary has just picked the black grapes off my vine. I think they are a wine making variety as my uncle used to make rose wine from this vines parent.
I'm not a winemaker and don't know anyone who is. There are three carrier bags full of grapes.
Ideas please

Lona Mon 13-Oct-14 12:29:36

soop smile
anno Hope you feel better soon, it's not much fun is it? flowers

soop Mon 13-Oct-14 12:26:36

MacS has returned home on the bus. He will return by bus later this afternoon to collect the car. Needless to say - Rory is a very HAPPY cat. wink

soop Mon 13-Oct-14 12:24:14

Yes please Teetime I shall join you for coffee...most of us have the odd "odd day." After a hectic weekend, your body is suggesting that you take it easy and relax. So, feet up, and enjoy some much needed "you time" flowers

Hello kitty I'm also wondering how our pal Bella is coping. Not a day passes without her coming to mind...and heart. sunshine

AlieO how is your cat? What seemed to be the problem? Animals can be such a worry. Isn't it a pity that they cannot tell us what they are feeling. MacS has taken the car in to the garage in Campbeltown for a service. Rory has been traipsing through the back door...and returning via the front door ever since he left home this morning. He simply cannot settle in MacS's absence.

anno you have my sympathy. Sinusitis is b****y painful. Very few over the counter medications are effective. I am glad that your doctor has prescribed a suitably strong antibiotic. A big (hug) for a speedy recovery.

Teetime Mon 13-Oct-14 09:18:44

Poor you anno do you use inhalations- even just hot steam can help ease your sinuses.
I'm having an odd day today probably just tired from being busy cooking etc over the weekend. I think I'll just sit here by the Aga if that's Ok - I'm not fed up just energyless- anyone share a big pot of coffee with me?

annodomini Sun 12-Oct-14 20:26:38

Thanks Alie. smile

AlieOxon Sun 12-Oct-14 20:15:45

Hope YOU are better tomorrow anno !

annodomini Sun 12-Oct-14 19:17:57

Alie, sorry about the cat. I do hope she is feeling better tomorrow.
It's been a lousy weekend as I've got sinusitis much more painful than I've ever had it before. Two nights' lost sleep sent me to the after hours surgery where a really nice doctor gave me an antibiotic which (fingers crossed)seems to be having a slight effect already. Sorry - here I am wallowing in self-pity when many of you have far more to complain about.

kittylester Sun 12-Oct-14 18:36:26

Just popped because I haven't been in for a while!

Hope your cat is ok by tomorrow Alie

Has anyone heard from Bella?

Hugs to everyone who needs one!

AlieOxon Sun 12-Oct-14 18:02:10

I used ^ instead of *.

A good day today but I have come back and my old cat doesn't seem too good. I will see how she is tomorrow.

soop Sun 12-Oct-14 17:37:31

Oldgreymare Good for you...you have completed a task that I shall give much thought to over the coming weeks. wink I loathe the thought of it but I'm always chuffed with the results. Any garment that has not had an outing during the past two years is put to one side. It then possibly goes to the charity shop...or, if I'm totally bonkers, it goes back into the wardrobe until the next sort through.
I can well imagine the fun you will share with your sisters. Does your husband have a garden shed to which he can retire?
As for the paperweight, if you find it attractive (albeit imperfect) then why not keep it. I have many "treasures" that have flaws. We used to buy a ticket for the lottery and didn't win a sausage. We no longer do so. My eldest son has always believed that he WILL win one day. When he does, he has promised to look after us. grin The one and only luxury that I would really enjoy is a Mini Cooper convertible. I am easily pleased. MacS maintains that he has everything he needs. Bless!
And now I'm toddling off to light the log fire. We then have our Sunday evening treat of a decent wee dram for MacS and a G&T for me...after which we read the Sunday papers from cover to cover. Bliss!
Night night to my Granspals. I shall catch up with you tomorrow. moon

Oldgreymare Sun 12-Oct-14 16:47:53

Just dropping by again as a reward for sorting wardrobes (Summer to Winter sad). Good to catch up with all the news, babies anniversaries, knife-attack survivors. Hugs to those whose news is not so good at the mo'.
My sisters are coming to stay, it will be the first time we have all been together under the same roof for many years. The OG has his own plans smile
Soop had a good look at the paperweight and it's got one wonky 'spoke' ..... not such a bargain after all, ah well, I can always 're-donate' it. Didn't think the omens were good enough to do the lottery!!!!

soop Sun 12-Oct-14 13:25:25

AlieO...what did you do? Anyways, I'm hoping that you are enjoying your daughter's company. The weather is pleasant here in bonnie Kintyre. I wish you sunshine

Nellie Oh, the very first image of your grandchild-to-be will certainly bring a wee tear to your eye. If only we had had the same treat in "our day". If you can, please try to upload the image for us lot. It amazes me that, even at the earliest stage, the facial features are already well developed.smile

Galen shock Had I been in your shoes I too would have remained super-calm on the surface...after all, one cannot get the better of Jesus! Did you feel a bit wobbly after the event? hmm

annsixty I had forgotten that your husband is not up to long journeys or being left unattended. Good! Having your daughter visit at half term will be just the tonic you both need and deserve. flowers

I need a safe kick-stool on which to perch in order to gain access to the top rail of the middle wardrobe. Trying to balance on a rickety wotsit isboth unwise and unsafe. I shall take a wee look on eBay. Happy Sunday to all the Kitcheners...x
